Dear friends,
I would like to welcome you to our 4th “Bringing
The World Together” fundraising banquet . All of
you have very busy lives, with several competing
Friday night activities, but you chose to join us
tonight. We thank you very much for being part of
this celebration.
The goal of this year’s program is to report on our
work in Ghana and raise funds towards the building
of the nursing staff apartment of the IHDN Mission
Hospital in Ghana. Our fundraising goal this year is
$100,000.
Last year, we raised over $68,000, which was used to kick start this building. We
are very thankful to all of you who supported us. I am pleased to inform you that
the foundations for both the first and second floors of the building have been built and
columns are being erected for the second floor. We will use the new funds to purchase
more materials including cement, gravel, timber and roofing sheets.
We just completed our 26th mission trip to Ghana in February 2015. Since 1996, we
have sponsored 282 volunteer visits to Ghana. This include 31 medical students and
pre-medical students, who ended up going to medical school. Some of these are now
doctors and pursing their career goal. Almost all the medical students have given great
reviews for their experience in Ghana. They felt their experience allowed them to build
their confidence before starting their residencies.
While in Ghana, we also got the opportunity to observe the growth of the work of
IHDN Mission Hospital. In 2014, over 44,000 patients were treated at the hospital.
Remarkably, this was accomplished on a shoe string budget. We now have a
75-member hospital staff. Tonight, we will be sharing the stories of 3 of the early
founding members of IHDN, Ghana. They all came from humble beginnings and have
now assumed leadership responsibilities of the IHDN Mission hospital.
We would like to thank all the volunteers, who worked for long hours to make this
event a success. We thank all who sponsored tables and purchased advertisement.
We thank all who contributed funds and material support. We also thank the Hope
Church and the leadership for the ongoing support that IHDN has been receiving over
the years. Enjoy the evening.
May God richly bless you.
In His service.
Dr. Edem Agamah

and talets to the glory of God, for the rest of his life.

“Overcoming the Ashes”
Cora (cello), Matt (guitar), Brian (drums), Kristin (vocals)
Christian, Contemporary
Overcoming the Ashes was formed in early 2011. After 3 years of songwriting
and a continually growing repertoire of original music, Matt Collins, songwriter and
guitarist, felt it was time to develop something more substantial from the music he
had written. With the support of his wife, Kristin Collins, vocals, he began pursuing
avenues in which to find a lead vocalist; seeking someone who could bring life to the
songs he had written. Dave Buchanan, a mutual friend of Matt and now lead vocalist
DJ Shultz, eventually connected the two and the rest is history. Though a short history
thus far, Overcoming the Ashes continues, and will continue, to write, record, and
present music that addresses relevant topics for today and gives hope through the
Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Annie McCaffrey
Annie McCaffrey is an International Worship Leader, Teacher, Evangelist, and
Activator. She is originally from Springfield, IL but now travels full-time. Her passion

of Middle Eastern refugees in East Germany. She has spent the last 3 months leading
worship in Jerusalem at the City of David House of Prayer. Annie has a unique view

faith will stir your heart to believe that the Kingdom of God has indeed come!

IHDN Mission Activities Year in Review
By June Agamah, MPH
The year 2014, has been a successful one for IHDN activities. We thank God for
His provisions; financially, answered prayers and for friends and family who came
along side us to do the physical work that accompanies this kind of effort. Please
join us as we reflect on last year’s blessings!
IHDN undertook 24th Mission Trip to Ghana
Dr. Agamah led a 16-member team to Ghana from January 30 to February 27,
2014.
There were two teams. Team A (January 30-February 13, 2014) was comprised
of one SIU School of Medicine surgeon, a Surgical Resident, one Internist, three
Medical Assistants and one Interior Decorator.
Team B (January 30-February 15, 2014) members were all Final Year Medical
Students. Five students were from SIU School of Medicine and have since
graduated as doctors. Three of the students were from Rush University Medical
College and they too have become doctors! We thank God for allowing them to
partner with us to serve hundreds of patients while working and training under the
tutelage of other Ghanaian doctors/surgeons at the IHDN Medical Hospital!
3rd IHDN Fundraising Banquet
On March 28th, 2014, we held our 3rd Annual Bringing The World Together”
Fundraiser Banquet. Our goal was to reach $100,000. to help with construction
of Staff Apartments for the workers at IHDN Mission Hospital. We had live
entertainment, Ghanaian Cuisine, video presentation and a dynamic speaker. About
300 guests attended and even though we did not reach our goal, it was a great
success.
Construction on Staff Apartment Continues
In April 2014, we broke ground to begin construction of the 24-unit Staff
Apartment Complex and this is ongoing. Thus far, we’ve spent over $162,000.
on this project and we are fervently praying for God to move on the hearts of
His people to provide the resources to complete what will be an estimated cost
of between $600,000 and $800,000. We are looking for volunteer construction
workers who would like to come join us on our next trip to Ghana. We encourage
those who cannot go, to send in their end-of-year donations. We appreciate your
continued support for this venture.
Commissioning of Incinerator
June 24, 2014, Dr. Agamah two of the Agamah ladies (Aseye & Miriam) and
the staff of the IHDN Mission Hospital and friends, gathered for a commission
ceremony to begin operating a new Incinerator to be used by the hospital. This was
an important step in improving the environmental sanitation of the hospital site.
Meanwhile, the Agamah ladies filled in the gap, working long hours in the IHDN
Mission Hospital Office, assisting the Staff as they deal with the absence of Mr.
Bogah Kudah, who was involved in a motor bike accident. By God’s grace he has
recovered and is back to work.
IHDN Undertook 25th Mission Trip to Ghana
Last year, our Summer mission trip to Ghana came later than any other year. We
had a busy year with new developments on the construction of the IHDN Mission
Hospital.
Dr. Agamah led a nine-member IHDN mission team to Ghana on Thursday,
August 7th to Friday, August 22nd, 2014. Last year’s team was international; with
two (2) members from Barbados, two (2) from Chicago, one (1) member from
Jamaica, one (1) from Guyana, South America and three (3) from Springfield, IL.
On Friday, August 22nd, 2014, the IHDN 9-member Mission team returned
safely from Ghana. The team was grateful for all the prayers and encouragement
extended on their journey of faith.
The team hosted a three day seminar on Conflict Resolution and Business
Development to a number of excited business men and women. Dr. Agamah and
two of the nurses did Nursing In-Service training for the hospital staff. Some
team members did a feasibility study of an Elementary School that is in danger of
closing.
Many patients were seen and treated at the IHDN Mission Hospital and a number
of surgeries were performed. The team visited the Slave Castle in Keta, and spent
time visiting with individual business owners. Construction continued on the Staff
apartments.
Please continue to pray for good health and continued vigilance for the workers and
staff as they continue to serve the people of the Volta Region of Ghana.
IHDN Purchases an Ambulance for Mission Hospital in Ghana
In October, 2014, we procured a 1996 Ford Cutaway Van E350 Ambulance for
$1,700. This ambulance is being shipped to Ghana to help transport sick patients
to and from the IHDN Mission Hospital. The present transportation condition for
patients is less than ideal. Patients are often carried on people’s backs, transported
to the hospital via motor bikes, or taxi. Since the body of the ambulance is wider
than the container, we had to ship it separately at a cost of $5,000. We are thankful
that we received $1,700. donations to help with the purchase of the ambulance and
another $1,000. was received to help defray the cost of shipment to Ghana.
Shipment of 40ft Container to Ghana
We give thanks to the Lord for His provisions! On December 18th, 2014, we
shipped a 40ft container to Ghana.
Thanks to all our volunteers who came to our home, and the warehouse to help
with the sorting and packing. We had 2 hours to pack it full of beds, Mattresses,
sheets, computers, adult gowns, medical supplies, children’s books, school desks,
etc.
The 40 ft container is bound for Ghana, West Africa. Please pray for traveling
mercies for the shipment to arrive safely.
Award Recognition for our work with IHDN
On November 7th 2014, Mrs. June Agamah received the 2014 Humanitarian Award
from University of Illinois. This award was given at the Annual Alumni Gala , held
at the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Museum in Springfield.
On that very day, Dr. Edem Agamah received the 2014 Volunteerism and
Community Service Award from The American College of Physicians-Illinois
Chapter. Dr. Agamah graciously chose not to go to Champaign but instead
supported June in her recognition for her award. We are both honored an thankful
for the encouragement and support given to us over these years!
IHDN Undertakes 26th Mission Trip to Ghana
Dr. Agamah led a 7-member Mission team to Ghana from January 29-February
28th, 2015. This diverse group continued medical care, provide leadership and
training of local pastors, Family Health Nursing training, and tropical medicine
training of medical students from SIU School of Medicine & Rush Medical
College, Chicago.
Thank you for your ongoing support and may God bless you and your family this
New Year, 2015!
