Our approach
By overlapping skills from all areas of vocational rehabilitation, coaching and
counselling, we provide highly detailed solutions to a wide range of workplace issues.
The strength of our approach is that we have moved away from the purely medically
focused rehabilitation model. Providing medical treatment alone may not necessarily
lead to a return to work. We apply the biopsychosocial vocational rehabilitation model
which enables us to consider the social and personal circumstances of our clients, as
well as the medical requirements. We set a return to work outcome as the primary
goal for our clients, whilst still taking into account all due medical treatments and
considerations.

Being a vocational rehabilitation company, Eclectic Human Solutions provides a wide
range of return to work services. We concentrate on our clients' personal abilities and
strengths, rather than the limitations and impairments brought about by sickness,
accident or injury. Setting this positive agenda from the outset ensures we are able to
deliver a high number of successful return to work outcomes.

Vocational rehabilitation is the answer
The individuals concerned are likely to be affected by the physical and psychological
aftermath of their injury or illness. It is no surprise that, when left unsupported,
these people may struggle to return to work. Without planning and setting
incremental achievable vocational goals, there is less chance for a successful return
to work.

Vocational rehabilitation is a process which enables people with functional,
psychological, developmental, cognitive and emotional impairments or health
conditions to overcome barriers to accessing, maintaining or returning to gainful
employment. The vocational rehabilitation process assists with a safe return to
sustainable employment following sickness, accident or injury.

Case Studies
Case study – David, personal injury client
David was devastated after sustaining leg injuries in a road traffic accident because he was
unable to work in his pre-accident capacity as a Motorcycle Courier. David had been absent from
work for 2 years. We were requested to conduct a Career Redirection Assessment for David. The
aim of the assessment was to identify a suitable alternative career and to create a Vocational
Rehabilitation Plan, with step-by-step interventions to help David become a confident job seeker.
We analysed David's transferable skills, his personal and work values and conducted labour
market research. We paid particular attention to rebuild David’s self-confidence by ensuring that
he concentrated on his abilities and strengths, rather than the things that he could no longer do.
Outcome: Today, David is in full-time employment after being retrained as a HGV driver and he
enjoys his job. In fact, he was able to turn away a few employment offers before accepting the
one that he really wanted.
Case study – Angela, workplace sickness absence management
Angela was employed as a Customer Service Advisor when she developed symptoms of
depression and went off sick. Angela received counselling but did not return to work. Angela’s
employer made a referral to an occupational health provider with the aim of assisting Angela
back to work. Seven weeks later, and the report had only one conclusion: 'Angela cannot return
to work due to her ongoing symptoms.'
Both Angela and her employer were at a loss what to do next. Her employer made a referral
to us asking to help with Angela’s return to work. We promptly evaluated Angela’s return to
work barriers and devised a solution-oriented plan with detailed recommendations, taking
into account both the demands of Angela’s job and the needs of her employer. Our report
was prepared within 5 days from meeting with Angela and included a 4 week Return to Work
Plan which we approved with Angela's GP. We also provided proactive recommendations
and guidance for the employer with regards to managing Angela's health condition in the
workplace.
Outcome: Angela’s immediate return to work date was arranged in agreement with all parties.
