Increasing demand from parents who wish to send their children overseas to study but at the same time desire to be aligned with the local system. Tsung Tsin International Junior School Section and English Speaking Kindergarten Section (IJSS & IKG) An English-speaking section with reference to the best international curriculum, including International Baccalaureate (IB) and UK National Curriculum IJSS is aligned with the local school system. Providing students with maximum flexibility in their choices of future studies, this approach ensures the broadest outlook whilst maintaining the focus of local syllabi, particularly in Chinese Language and Mathematics. French and Japanese are the language choices that contribute to the international flavour. What is the ‘IB’? IBO – International Baccalaureate originated in 1968 by The International Baccalaureate Organization The IBO offers 3 programmes to a wide variety of schools located throughout the world: • The Diploma Programme (DP), for students in the final two years of school before university •The Middle Years Programme (MYP), for students aged 11 to 16 •The Primary Years Programme (PYP), for students aged 3 to 12 The 3 Programmes provide participating schools with: •Guidelines for what students should learn •A teaching methodology •Assessment strategies PYP: six subject areas *language *social studies *mathematics *science and technology *arts *personal, social and physical education International Teachers Class Teachers in IJSS • Native English Speaking class teacher: • English Language, General Studies, Art, Drama • Responsible for classroom management and pastoral care. • Native Putonghua Speaking class teacher • Responsible for class administration, classroom management and pastoral care • Provides assistance to students in other lessons. Medium of Instruction in IJSS English Language Reading and Oral Reading to Learn Mathematics General Studies ICT Art Music Drama Bible Worship and Moral Education Medium of Instruction in IJSS Putonghua: Chinese French: French Japanese: Japanese French and Japanese In Junior One • The lessons are fun exposure to a new language and culture. • 30 minutes per week. Junior Two – Junior Four • One hour (2 periods) Junior Five and Junior Six • Select one language for further study, two hours (4 periods) per week. Chinese Language • Same as the local curriculum • Putonghua medium. Mathematics • Same as the local curriculum. • English medium English Language • Based on ‘Backpack’ an integrated approach to teaching grammar, vocabulary and the four language skills.
