It is important to learn how
to deal with uncertainty. Life
is change and you won’t succeed if you try to control every aspect of it. You may like
structure, stability and security, but it is not what life is
about. The security that you
are searching comes from
within you. It comes from
knowing that the Universe is
on your side, from knowing
that you are always supported and guided. It is the Love
for yourself and your selfconfidence what will allow
you to manage any insecurity
or difficulty.
Your attitude towards life will
determine how you live your
life when things are not clear,
when you don’t know what
is next, when you are going
through a period of transition, or something happened
to you that changed your life
like a losing a loved one, ending a relationship, moving to
a different country, or starting
a new job. A positive attitude,
no matter what your circumstances are, will change everything. Miracles happen to
those that believe in them.
You will be unstoppable if you
believe in yourself.
The temptation to start doubting yourself, to put yourself
down, to start worrying, to
create a future where things
go wrong, is always there,
but you need to avoid this
avenue in the path of life.
Don’t become anxious or
sad when something didn’t
happen yot. Remain in the
present moment, it is the only
real moment. Take things
one step at a time, don’t get
overwhelmed. Don’t allow
your thoughts to focus on the
problems that you think you
have, open yourself to the solutions. Remain calm and ask
for help, ask for a resolution,
focus all your energy on this
and your answers will come.
When you are afraid of
changing, when you don’t
embrace uncertainty, you
deny yourself the opportunity
to create a different life and
to receive better things. You
need to be courageous to
take responsibility for your life
and to make your happiness
a priority. If you feel stuck in a
life that you don’t like, just because you don’t want to deal
with the uncertainty, you are
closing all doors and not giving yourself the opportunities
that you deserve. Transformation and growth are part of
life, and if you allow them to
happen, you will be rewarded
in unimaginable ways.

One of the first enlisted women to serve
aboard a Navy submarine earned her submarine qualification, or “dolphins,” on August 2nd and is preparing to deploy aboard
USS Michigan (SSGN 727).
Chief Culinary Specialist Dominique Saavedra, a native of Los Angeles, became the
first female enlisted Sailor to earn her silver dolphins in a pinning ceremony held at
Puget Sound Naval Shipyard on Tuesday.
Though assigned to Michigan, Saavedra
embarked aboard USS Ohio (SSGN 726),
which is currently deployed, to earn her basic, advanced, and underway watch qualifications.
“I couldn’t be more proud to wear the ‘dolphins,’” said Saavedra. “To have earned the
respect of my fellow submariners is more
rewarding than expected. I am honored to
serve as a qualified member in such a prestigious community.”
The Ohio-class guided-missile submarine is
currently conducting a major maintenance
period at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and
Intermediate Maintenance Facility. The
submarine completed its time in dry dock
and is wrapping up the maintenance period
later this summer. This will bring the ship
one step closer to setting sail for the first
time with female submariners. Work accomplished during the maintenance period will
include the modification of living quarters for
female chief petty officers and enlisted crew
members.
“Chief Saavedra’s accomplishment reinforces the fact that there are very capable
women who have the talent and desire to
succeed in the submarine force,” said Capt.
Joe Turk, commanding officer of USS Michigan. “Drawing from talented individuals
like Chief Saavedra helps us maintain the
world’s best submarine force.”
In June 2012, the first female supply officer
earned her submarine qualification and the
first three unrestricted line officers earned
their gold dolphins the following December. Structural changes to the submarine
weren’t necessary at the time. Because officers bunk in three-man staterooms, the new

Disabled Retiree Sues to Block Wave of South Bay Beach
City Bans on Short-Term Rentals
Jim Holtz isn’t giving up his right to
rent out his lucrative, beach-facing
condo on The Strand’s exclusive
strip of homes without a fight.
After all, it represents the disabled
retiree’s primary source of income
outside of his Social Security payments.
The Oxnard Jazz Festival brings together a diverse mix of Jazz, Latin,
Soul Blues, and R&B to captivate the
essence of creative music such
as the Eclectic neo Latin groove of
Quattrosound. They are an innovative acoustic based ensemble that
has been recognized as Grammy
Award winning.
So Holtz is suing the city of Hermosa Beach and seeking tens of
thousands of dollars in damages for
its May decision to legally block residents from renting out their homes
for less than 30 days on internet
sites like Airbnb and VRBO.
The municipality, which boasts
nearly 2 miles of pristine coastal
property, joined Manhattan Beach
and Redondo Beach in prohibiting
the controversial practice, complaining it encourages spring break-type
behavior in otherwise family-friendly
communities. Hermosa Beach officials then agreed to hire two code
enforcement officers to police the
ban and a consultant to regularly
comb websites for violators, at a
combined cost of about $200,000 a
year.
Several Orange County beach communities also are wrestling with the
same issue. On June 29, Anaheim
banned short-term housing rentals.
But Dana Point decided this year to

allow homeowners to rent their properties to vacationers provided they
first get a city permit.
The Hermosa Beach City Council
took up the issue last year after dozens of homeowners complained that
late-night parties and careless tourists were causing grief for neighbors.
“There have been countless bachelor and bachelorette-type parties
involving excessive amounts of alcohol, illegal drugs, adult entertainers, foul language … and all sorts
of drunken revelry at all hours of
the evening and early morning,”
Jay Perrault, a resident and neigh-
borhood block captain, told council
members.
“The owners of these rentals are
motivated solely by profit and have
absolutely no regard for the well-being and safety of our neighborhood,”
he said.

San Pedro Selected for U.S. Navy Band Tour

Five Smart Homebuyer Strategies

The National Association

housing supply shortage.
Homes are selling quickly
and home prices are starting to inch up again. It’s

During a sellers’ market,
buyers concede the upper hand to sellers and
are more willing to accept

What You Need to Know About State’s New
Student Vaccination Rules
California’s tough new immunization
law, aimed at quelling the spread of
disease, will be put to the test for the
fall school year, with a medical exemption now required for students
to skip immunizations.
Here’s a guide to how the law works:
Nearly all public and private school
students must be vaccinated
against up to 10 diseases, depending on age.
Written medical waivers must be
submitted by doctors to describe a
child’s physical condition or medical
circumstances. The statement must
also include what vaccines are being exempted, if the exemption is
permanent or temporary, and if temporary, when the exemption expires.
Permanent exemptions do not need
to be renewed.
New personal belief exemptions for
religious or other reasons are no
longer allowed.
The law does not specify what physical conditions or medical circumstances qualify, giving doctors some
Make a good first impression. Not
only do you need to impress sellers,
you need to impress your REALTOR®. Hire one REALTOR® and let
him or her profile your needs to the
marketplace. Be specific about your
must-haves so you don’t waste you
or your agent’s time viewing homes
that lack what you want most. When
you find the home you want, send
the seller a letter along with your
offer outlining why you love the
home. I had an escrow that closed
last week near Leimert Park . The
buyers sent a letter with their purchase contract to the sellers, along
with their photos. They mentioned
how much they loved the neighborhood, the character of the Cape-Cod
style home, unlike an investor who
planned to flip the home and had no
emotional ties to the home.
Get preapproved by a lender. Not
only will you know how much home
you can buy, you’ll be ready to make
an offer quickly. Your REALTOR®
can include the fact that you’re financially preapproved by your lender, which will carry weight with the
seller.
The law, which took effect July
1, was passed in response to a
measles outbreak that started in
December 2014 at Disneyland and
sickened 81 people.
How can parents opt out of vaccines?
When homes are in short
supply, buyers don’t have
the luxury to taking their
time, teasing sellers with
lowball offers, demanding that every little thing
be fixed, and shopping for homes
with multiple real estate agents. Do
these steps instead:
latitude and discretion.
“The schools are going to be prone
to accept anything that a physician
writes because our business is education and the physician’s business
is health,” said Pamela Kahn, a
registered nurse and the health and
wellness coordinator for the Orange
County Department of Education.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, some
reasons to avoid particular vaccines
include life-threatening allergies to
an included ingredient or a history
of the rare autoimmune disorder
Guillain-Barre syndrome.
Only licensed medical doctors can
provide the exemption.
“I would hope with that high level of
credential that providers will operate
within the realm of expert guidelines
and medical science and would not
be providing exemptions for unscientific reasons,” said Dr. David
Nuñez, family health medical director for the county’sorange county
Health Care Agency. “Unfortunately
we don’t really have any way of anticipating whether there will be those
that try to game the system in some
way.”
Yes. On July 1, the day the law took
effect, a lawsuit was filed in San
Diego federal court by a group of
parents and the nonprofit Education
4 All. The suit alleges that the law
violates children’s right to an education.

Be flexible. No home is perfect. To
get more home for your money, you
might shop for an older home that
needs renovation. Try to look past
ugly wallpaper and stained carpet
and visualize the home with more
attractive finishes.
Shop within your price range. In a
seller’s market, it’s wise to shop for
homes within or slightly below your
price range. This will give you more
room to make full-price offers or
above in case the home you want is
in a bidding war with other buyers.
You’ll be able to pay your own closing costs too.
Be ready. Be ready to see a new listing at a moment’s notice. Be ready
to make an offer when you believe
this is the right home for your household. Once the seller has accepted
your offer, be ready to schedule the
inspections you’ll need and don’t nitpick the seller over small things.
Now that we are in a seller’s market, you should feel good about
the home you choose, the deal you
make, and the courteous way you
treated all parties to the transaction.

information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be
aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or
deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER:
The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one
or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court,
pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made
available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present
at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been
postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the
sale of this property, you may call, 916-939-0772 for information
regarding the trustee’s sale or visit this Internet Web site, www.nationwideposting.com, for information regarding the sale of this property, using the file number assigned to this case, T.S.# 9986-9642.
Information about postponements that are very short in duration or
that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately
be reflected in the telephone information or on the internet Web site.
The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the
scheduled sale. If the Trustee is unable to convey title for any reason, the successful bidder’s sole and exclusive remedy shall be the
return of monies paid to the Trustee and the successful bidder shall
have no further recourse. NBS Default Services, LLC 301 E. Ocean

auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being
auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at
the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title
to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence,
priority, and size of the outstanding lien that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance
company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information.
If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that
the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust
on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date
shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times
by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you

Case No. 16STPB02533
To all heirs, beneficiaries, creditors, contingent creditors, and

or both, of JOEL HERSHAL HICKS, JR.
A PETITION FOR PROBATE has been filed by Hilly Gene
Hicks, Sr. in the Superior Court of California, County of LOS
ANGELES.
THE PETITION FOR PROBATE requests that Hilly Gene Hicks,

be admitted to probate. The will and any codicils are available

actions without obtaining court approval. Before taking certain
very important actions, however, the personal representative
will be required to give notice to interested persons unless they
have waived notice or consented to the proposed action.) The
independent administration authority will be granted unless an

8:30 AM in Dept. No. 11 located at 111 N. Hill St., Los Angeles,
CA 90012.

appear at the hearing and state your objections or file written
objections with the court before the hearing. Your appearance
may be in person or by your attorney.
IF YOU ARE A CREDITOR or a contingent creditor of the decedent, you must file your claim with the court and mail a copy
to the personal representative appointed by the court within the
later of either (1) four months from the date of first issuance of
letters to a general personal representative, as defined in section 58(b) of the California Probate Code, or (2) 60 days from
the date of mailing or personal delivery to you of a notice under
section 9052 of the California Probate Code.
Other California statutes and legal authority may affect your
rights as a creditor. You may want to consult with an attorney
knowledgeable in California law.
YOU MAY EXAMINE the file kept by the court. If you are a
person interested in the estate, you may file with the court a
Request for Special Notice (form DE-154) of the filing of an
inventory and appraisal of estate assets or of any petition or

Case No. 16STPB02699
To all heirs, beneficiaries, creditors, contingent creditors, and persons who may otherwise be interested in
the will or estate, or both, of FLORENCE L. CAMIRE
A PETITION FOR PROBATE has been filed by Arlynne
J. Camire in the Superior Court of California, County of
LOS ANGELES.
THE PETITION FOR PROBATE requests that Arlynne
J. Camire be appointed as personal representative to
administer the estate of the decedent.
THE PETITION requests the decedent’s will and codicils, if any, be admitted to probate. The will and any
codicils are available for examination in the file kept
by the court.
THE PETITION requests authority to administer the
estate under the Independent Administration of Estates Act. (This authority will allow the personal representative to take many actions without obtaining court
approval. Before taking certain very important actions,
however, the personal representative will be required
to give notice to interested persons unless they have
waived notice or consented to the proposed action.)
The independent administration authority will be granted unless an interested person files an objection to the
petition and shows good cause why the court should
not grant the authority.
A HEARING on the petition will be held on Sept. 8,
2016 at 8:30 AM in Dept. No. 79 located at 111 N. Hill
St., Los Angeles, CA 90012.
IF YOU OBJECT to the granting of the petition, you
should appear at the hearing and state your objections or file written objections with the court before the
hearing. Your appearance may be in person or by your
attorney.
IF YOU ARE A CREDITOR or a contingent creditor of
the decedent, you must file your claim with the court
and mail a copy to the personal representative appointed by the court within the later of either (1) four
months from the date of first issuance of letters to a
general personal representative, as defined in section
58(b) of the California Probate Code, or (2) 60 days
from the date of mailing or personal delivery to you of
a notice under section 9052 of the California Probate
Code.
Other California statutes and legal authority may affect
your rights as a creditor. You may want to consult with
an attorney knowledgeable in California law.
YOU MAY EXAMINE the file kept by the court. If you
are a person interested in the estate, you may file with
the court a Request for Special Notice (form DE-154)
of the filing of an inventory and appraisal of estate assets or of any petition or account as provided in Probate Code section 1250. A Request for Special Notice
form is available from the court clerk.
