harlotte Concerts is our city’s original presenting arts organization, and this
and changed, but we’ve never deviated from our special mission. Not only do we
present the very finest in performing arts from around the world (this season even
more so)
so), but we actively promote music education outreach programs that enrich
the lives of thousands of students in the greater Charlotte area schools every year.
This season, you’ll have the opportunity to hear the cutting edge of modern classical
performance with a unique piano duo, and Baroque masterpieces played by (surprise!)
a jazz powerhouse. You’ll experience two world renowned orchestras, one classical
and one jazz. And, in a finale worthy of our 85th season, you’ll witness the passionate
pairing of piano and cello in a performance by two of the world’s greatest young
chamber musicians.
Charlotte Concerts is the jewel in the crown of our city’s arts community because
Charlotte Concerts is a shining example of what an arts organization can be. You
should join us. Become a valued part of our 85th season (the best season yet!), and
experience the additional satisfaction of supporting music and music education in
your own community.

poet of the keyboard: refined, searching, and unfailingly communicative.” His sincerity
and expressiveness bring audiences into each phrase as if hearing it for the first time.
Such musicality is amply supported by his incredible, virtuoso technical abilities.
Barnatan has been named the New York Philharmonic’s first Artist in Association, and
has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras. Cellist Alisa Weilerstein’s
passion, commitment and breathtaking technique combined with undeniable musicianship make her one of today’s most exciting artists. A 2011 MacArthur Fellowship
recipient, she is also an exclusive recording artist for Decca Classics and has performed
with the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, among others. Together, these two artists offer an alluring and passionate
musical event not to be missed!

to explore their creativity and refine their talent simply because they cannot afford a
musical instrument? The obstacles are great. But art is greater. Our mission is to
serve these students -- our students -- and make certain they achieve that which
they most desire. This is what Charlotte Concerts does. With your help, we support
our entire local music education community. We bring hope and make dreams come
true for thousands of children.

Charlotte Concerts sponsors unique and inspirational extracurricular collaborations
with visiting artists. These include free Master Classes and open-to-the-public
Informance sessions, allowing students to get up close and personal with world-class
artists. Charlotte Concerts encourages the musical arts with our historic support of
The Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Middle School Honors and High School Honors
String Orchestras, Middle School Honors Band and Middle School Honors Chorus.
At every Charlotte Concerts’ performance, we honor an Outstanding Student for
exemplary studies and musical skill, and we feature free “preconcert mini-concerts”
of local student musicians. Your generous support helps us provide concert tickets
to middle school, high school and college students who might otherwise never attend
a live musical event.

Most impressively, last year Charlotte Concerts donated new musical instruments to
students in underserved schools, helping make their creative dreams a reality.
It’s clear that Charlotte Concerts is much more than a mere concert series. We are a
pillar of the music education community. Our strength and diversity comes from you
and your support. To learn more about how you can give the gift of music and music
education, please call 704.527.6680 or visit charlotteconcerts.org.

ANNUAL FUNDRAISING GALA
you fortunate enough to attend our 2013-2014 Fundraising Gala,
W“TheereRite
of Spring Ball”? It was a true prazdnovaniye (celebration!) of Russian
music and culture, right here in the Queen City. With a rousing orchestra, dancers, a live
auction, and a packed house of benefactors, it was one of Charlotte’s biggest parties of
the year. Charlotte Concerts raised over $100,000 in one night. Generous contributions
made during the event will insure the purchase of new musical instruments for
underserved schools in the coming year. As exciting as last season’s Gala was, this
season’s promises to be even more incredible: It’s our 85th Season, after all! Go to our
website now to see pictures from past events, and to sign up for our email newsletter,
so you can be among the first to find out about our 85th Season Celebration Gala.
We look forward to seeing you at our 85th year Gala on February 21, 2015, at
