About the Comarco Group
Comarco was established in 1971, in Mombasa, Kenya before expanding its range of activities and area of operations
throughout the entire Indian Ocean and along the Eastern Africa Seaboard.
Comarco is now the leading marine and specialised logistics contractor in the region with over forty years of
experience operating its own fleet of tugs, barges, supply vessels and specialised equipment for offshore, close shore,
and beach operations.
This is the largest fleet in this region, and is operated from Comarco’s own private port facility, shipyard and supply
base in Mombasa.

Marine and Specialised Logistics

General marine transport of all kinds, including
containerised, break-bulk and bulk cargos, using
owned and chartered vessels of all types.
Customised marine transport services by tug, barge,
LCT and conventional vessels, including chartering
of ocean going vessels, to provide bespoke quay to
beach, beach to beach and quay to quay solutions.
Beach Landings
Loading and offloading any cargo across the beach
including the use of the Exposed Beach Operating
System (EBOS™) and Safe Beach Operating System
(SBOS™) developed by Comarco.
Lightering, Transhipping and Stevedoring at
Sea
Lightering, transhipping and stevedoring at sea
solutions for all cargo types from vessel to barge
including bulk, breakbulk, rigs, project and heavy lift,
at anchorage or alongside the quay.
Instant Ports
Providing rapidly established, eco friendly beach
landing sites, enabling the delivery of any cargo
from anywhere in the world to specific remote
locations.

Handling of all types of cargos on and off barges,
over the beach and across the foreshore using
trucks and trailers, conveyors, forklifts and cranes.
Vessel charters on time or voyage basis, including
fuel, cargo and materials transport to remote
locations both onshore and offshore.
Heavy Lift
Providing the expertise and equipment, both owned
and chartered, for safe and reliable heavy lift marine
transportation and logistics services for port cranes,
project cargo, offshore construction and offshore
modules.
Offshore Pipe Transport
Supervising, loading and providing customised
marine transport solutions for coated and bare pipe
delivered directly to offshore lay barge.
Salvage, Deep Sea & Emergency Towage
Deep sea towage, emergency towage and salvage of
vessels and cargo using dedicated equipment and
experienced crew and masters.

General Marine Contracting
Comarco operates from the largest private shore base within East Africa and provides a variety of general and marine
contracting services throughout the Indian Ocean, which include:
Private Port Facility
Deep water berthing at a harbour fronted private
port facility in Mombasa, offering private stevedores
and well maintained equipment to handle bulk and
breakbulk cargo as well as rigs and project cargo.
Supply Base Management
Agency Work
• Providing prompt and efficient customs
clearance services for seafreight, airfreight
and project cargos.
• Providing port agency work, vessel husbandry,
crew management, bunkering and chandlery.
Operating a fully equipped, managed and resourced
EPZ supply base in Mombasa, Kenya with dedicated

available for hire on either time or voyage charter
basis.

Vessels & Equipment
Tugs, AHTS, OSVS
Comarco owns and operates an extensive fleet of
tugs, AHT’s and OSV’s ranging from 800bhp tug to
14400bhp.
Barges (250mt to 12000mt dwt)
Comarco’s fleet of barges spans from small work
platforms to large 2,200m2 / 12,000dwt flat top
barges and used for a variety of offshore work.
Landing Craft from (150mt to 2000mt dwt)
Purpose built to easily land both liquid and solid cargo
onto beaches and for shallow water operations.
Self-Elevating Work Platforms (10 to 100mt)
Comarco owns self-elevating work platforms of
varying sizes used mainly for Geotechnical surveys
and piling.

Utility Craft
Comarco owns a selection of utility craft ranging from
fibreglass work boats, to crew transport vessels and
robust steel hull catamaran craft used for intertidal
work.
Cranes (20mt to 270mt)
Comarco has a variety of crawler cranes, truck cranes
and rough terrain cranes varying in size from 20T
capacity to 270T capacity.
Forklifts (2.5 – 16mt)
Comarco operates a fleet of forklifts ranging from
2.5T to 16T of varying configurations.
Trucks and Trailers
Our haulage fleets include trucks ranging from 125 to
540hp, as well as range of trailers, from 3 to 14 axles,
capable of moving loads up to 500t.

Comarco Supply Base
Uniquely position to provide a one stop shop for all your marine supply needs.
Comarco Supply Base totals 16.45 acres including over 40,000 m² of open storage, covered storage space, office space
and facilities, mobile and crawler cranes up to 270 tonnes capacity, a marine engineering workshop and a 24 hour
Operations Centre, which combine to provide a facility unequalled on the East Coast of Africa.
Private Wharf
Comarco owns a private sufferance wharf of 93m length, with minimum depth of 7.2 metres alongside draft and
capable of handling ships of up to 130 metres loa.
The wharf has an extensive and direct frontage to Liwatoni Bay and the main commercial shipping channel, situated
1NM to the east of Kilindini Harbour, Mombasa, and is easily accessible by road and sea.
Comarco operates the wharf on a 24 hour basis and vessels may be loaded and discharged by experienced stevedores
and winchmen as required.
