SCHOOL ABSENCE — Did you know that you can now
inform the office of an absence on Edsby? It’s simple!
Just log on to your parent account . Pull up the profile
of the son/daughter that you would like to mark as
absent (click the down arrow beside their picture if
their profile is hidden). Click on the blue button on the
right hand column of the screen that says ‘Absent
Today’ if the absence is today, or ‘Schedule Absence’ if
the absence will be in the future. Fill out the details
and then click ‘send to school office’.
Are you having trouble logging on to
your parental Edsby account? New
parents were set up with an account at
the Parent Night last week, if you were unable to
attend, please contact the office. Returning parents can
email admin@qchs.ca to have their password reset or
with any other Edsby concerns.
IMPORTANT VOLUNTEER SURVEY — You will receive a
survey by email this week. Please take a moment to fill
it out and submit. The survey indicates the areas in
which you are gifted and areas in which you may be
willing to volunteer. Volunteering could be baking,
filling in a 2 hour time slot at the vendor’s market, or of
other options.

Grade Nine Community Building Trip
September, 2016
Dear Parents:
On Monday, September 26, the Grade Nine class will be heading to Camp Medeba in West Guilford, north of
Haliburton. http://www.medeba.com/Overview.html This annual excursion is the major trip the students have in
their Grade Nine year at Quinte Christian High School. We will be travelling in vans that will be leaving the school
after devotions on Monday and returning in time to make the buses on Tuesday. Students will be participating in a
variety of activities to promote group work, team building, courage and connecting with other students in their class.
Group activities include High Ropes, Canoeing, Milk Crate Madness and Jacob’s Ladder. We will return to QCHS
Tuesday, September 27 in time for the busses to take the students home. A general schedule has been attached for
your information.
Staff members on the trip are Mrs. Serviss and Mr. Lammers. The majority of our instruction and meals are provided
by the Camp Medeba staff. QCHS staff and four senior QCHS students will also lead students in group building
activities and devotions.
This trip is extremely valuable for building class community. We strongly encourage everyone to participate as it is a
great time for the Grade Nines to get to know the students from the other schools. There are no classes at school for
Grade Nine students on Monday September 26 or Tuesday September 27.
The total cost is $100 per student. This includes the cost of the camp accommodations, 3 meals, and a portion of the
transportation fee. To make things easier financially, we will accept installments of $35 (last installment $30) over 3
months. If anyone is thinking of not going due to the cost, please contact Mr. Lammers.
Permission forms and payment are due by Wednesday, September 21, 2016. If you choose to pay in installments,
please include a cheque for $35 as well as two post-dated cheques for October and November.
Pleas do not hesitate to call or email Mr. Lammers, elammers@qchs.ca (613)968-7870 x222 if you have any
questions.
Looking forward to a great adventure,
Mr. Eric Lammers

Please indicate if there are any special food requirements or allergies.
We would like this to be about building community and therefore suggest that students leave electronic devices at
home. If they think they need them for travel, we will have a safe place to keep them while we are at the camp.
There is some room on the bus, but not lots, so try to fit everything into a small duffle bag or a backpack. Make sure
your sleeping bag is clearly marked and pillow is identifiable.
You need to have a lunch for Monday, please bring it in something which can be thrown away after lunch.
Please let us know about any dietary considerations or allergies your child has.
