Stockists of ‘American Crew’ products. HRIST C M P E AS LO CAL Christmas tree was actually recorded in Britain quite some time before Prince Albert's time but he introduced the idea to Windsor and established a Royal tradition of gathering around the tree on Christmas Day. The origin of the tree is hidden in the mists of German mythology and it is thought to have been a substitute for earlier human sacrifice in honour of the winter solstice. Real trees are still very popular today although some people prefer the convenience of authentic looking artificial trees. The problem with real trees used to be that the warmth in the house would make them drop their needles which were then tracked through the whole house. These days you can buy non-drop trees so that you can enjoy the look and fragrance of a real tree without the inconvenience of getting needles everywhere. Make sure you have measured the space you have available for your tree, including the space the branches will need when they spread, as it’s easy to overestimate when you see the trees and end up with one that’s much too big and will overpower your room. If you need advice on the best tree for your requirements go to a local supplier like Robinsons and ask for advice. Christmas begins in MR’s and PINK. It’s important though to protect your hair from damage so, when using straighteners, make sure you dry it thoroughly to remove all residue of dampness. Next, brush your hair well to encourage the cuticles of the hair to lie flat. To make sure your hair is fully protected apply a heat protection spray throughout the straightening process. For the best result, clip the upper sections of your hair on top of your head and start with the underneath layers first. Place the straighteners as close to the scalp as possible -without burning it - and slide them through your hair smoothly to the ends. Close the top of the tongs and hold them in place until the hair is hot. Release the tong and the hair will spring into a coil. Repeat this all over the head then separate the curls out with your fingers. Use a styling product that makes the curls spring back for longer while protecting your hair from the heat. Put the finishing touches to your fantastic party hair with decorative hair accessories such as combs, scrunchies and hair grips. Add some glittery hair spray for a truly festive finish. Mini Poured Candles, Decorative Tea Light Globe and Objet Potpourri available at Castletown Health Store Tel. 825812 To get the ultimate look use heated rollers on medium length hair. First wash and dry the hair then take sections approximately the size of each roller and set the hair. Allow the hair to cool then take the rollers out and hey presto…you have curly hair! For looser curls, run a brush through them and for more defined curls separate them with your fingers. To curl long hair, apply a firm control mousse to freshly washed and conditioned hair then dry it. Starting at the base of your neck carefully curl your hair with hot tongs, working in square-inch sections and pinning the rest back. Create a glamorous ‘up-do’ even if you’re short of time. Pull the hair back, but not too tightly, into a sleek ponytail and twist up on top. Leave the ends to create loose curls forming a halo slightly towards the back of the head. Clip it in place with a flower hair accessory if desired. Finish off with a spritz of hair spray for long lasting hold.
