Mt. Shasta Nordic Center 2013-2014 Annual Report Why? Guiding Principles Enable people of all ages, physical abilities and economic circumstances to experience the health benefits of Nordic skiing and snowshoeing. Ensure access and opportunity for all trail users. Promote Nordic skiing as an environmentally friendly activity, beneficial to the mental and physical health of our community. Represent and respond to the wishes of our community with consideration for environmental responsibility, fiscal prudence and operational sustainability. Our mission is simple: Support community health and wellbeing by providing groomed cross country ski trails and programs for a diverse population on the slopes of majestic Mt. Shasta. 2013/2014 Nordic Events Membership Meeting—November Backcountry Film Festival—January Nordic Wine Gala—February Nordic Garage Sale—September We’re a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Through the financial support from members, business partners, and grant funders, we offer a sliding scale fee and scholarships for access to the 20 km of groomed cross-country ski and snowshoe trails. This year was challenging for us and our community. Despite the fact that we didn’t open, we brought in enough revenue from memberships, business sponsorships and grants to carry us through to this upcoming ski season. We kept ourselves busy by participating in community events. Nordic staff and volunteers hosted aid stations for the Castle Crags and Summit Century bike rides—and we volunteered our time resources to the Boles Fire recovery efforts. Thank you all!
