SPOTLIGHT
New 2016 Marauders
Ticket Plans Are a
Home Run for Hungry Fans
The Bradenton Marauders have unveiled a new ticket package for 2016 that ensures
visitors to McKechnie Field won’t leave hungry. Three different “All-You-Can-Eat” fivegame ticket plans allow fans to indulge their appetite while enjoying five of the best
promotional nights on the 2016 schedule. The new five-game plans also feature a pair of
complimentary souvenirs. Fans that purchase the plans will receive a Marauders cap and
a commemorative SnootyTM the Manatee bobblehead.
The new All-You-Can-Eat plans give fans unlimited access
to hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, bottled
water, and fountain Pepsi products at their selected games.
Unlimited hot dogs, hamburgers, and grilled chicken sandwiches are available to
purchasers of the “All-You-Can-Eat” plans. Thirst won’t be an issue either, as the plans
also come with unlimited bottled water and fountain soda. Fans purchasing the plans will
receive wristbands for each game in their plan to utilize the unlimited food privileges.
The commemorative SnootyTM bobblehead is sure to be among the best giveaway items
in all of minor league baseball this year. Snooty, born at the Miami Aquarium and Tackle
Company in 1948, is the Guinness World Record holder as the oldest manatee. He was
relocated to the South Florida Museum in Bradenton in 1949 and has resided here ever
since, growing to nearly 10 feet in length and weighing more than 1,000 pounds. The
bobbleheads will be distributed in July to recognize Snooty’s 68th birthday.
The Marauders are partnering with the South Florida
Museum to create a commemorative Snooty™ bobblehead.
There is no overlap in which games are included in each of the three packages. Fans can
purchase the package with the five games that are most appealing to them. There is no
pressure to worry about missing one of the five games, either. Tickets from a missed game
can be exchanged for the best available ticket to any future game and a meal voucher to
that future game.
Every game in the “All-You-Can-Eat” plans is on a Friday or Saturday night. The plans
include prominent games like Opening Night, the Marauders patriotic July 2 celebration,
Fan Appreciation Night, and Star Wars Night. Every Friday game will include a Free Shirt
Friday with a unique t-shirt giveaway once again this season. New to the promotions
schedule this year is a visit from the ZOOperstars!, a nationally renowned troupe of sportsthemed inflatable entertainers.
The “All-You-Can-Eat” plans are a great tool for corporate clients to utilize as well. The
ballpark is a great place to entertain a client, a prospect, a colleague, or an employee that
has earned a night of Marauders “All-You-Can-Eat” baseball fun. Business gets done on
a full stomach!
The All-You-Can-Eat plans feature only the very best
promotions, including the first ever visit of the nationally
acclaimed ZOOperstars! to McKechnie Field on June 10.
It’s easy to learn more about “All-You-Can-Eat” five-game plans. The Marauders have set
up a webpage specifically for this new deal: www.BradentonMarauders.com/allyoucaneat.
We look forward to seeing you at the ballpark to cheer on our hometown Bradenton
Marauders!
All-You-Can Eat plans feature the best Bradenton Marauders promotions including
stunning fireworks presentations from Zambelli Fireworks

Health Links Florida
Launches in Manatee
County
"Business wellness" is a term that we've all heard a lot about. Research shows healthy
employees are more productive and businesses that offer wellness programming are viewed
as investing in their employees. Many companies have implemented wellness offerings but
if it's not already part of your company's programming, it's difficult to know where to start.

The Chamber is a partner with the Florida Department of Health in Manatee County and
Blake Medical Center in the launch of Health Links Florida. We are the first community in the
state to offer the online resources and business certification program of Health Links.
There are two information sessions scheduled this month to allow you to hear more:
• Wednesday, March 9 at 8:00 AM - Chamber's Bradenton Office
• Friday, March 11 at 8:00 AM - Chamber's Lakewood Ranch Office at the McClure Center
Join us at either of these sessions to learn how you can:
• Start offering wellness programming to your employees
• Implement wellness-related policies that become part of your company's culture
• Become a "Certified Healthy Business" and receive recognition
• Become listed as a wellness vendor if your company's products or services can be part
of employee wellness programming
And, thanks to a sponsorship by My Manatee Doctors, the first ten small businesses (ten
or fewer employees) can complete their certification for FREE! For more information about
Health Links, the information sessions or getting certified for free, please contact Jacki

Friday, May 20
It’s time to go back to school! Join the
Manatee Chamber of Commerce as we
present the Project TEACH program at all
area elementary schools on Friday, May
20. Project TEACH is designed to increase
career awareness among 4th grade
students and stress the importance of first
impressions. For many students, this is one
of the first times they have had a business
volunteer in their classroom…and the first
time they have been exposed to careers
other than those of their parents.
Gold Members
Over 130 volunteers are needed to reach
every 4th grade class. Volunteering is EASY
and takes only a few hours of your time
on the morning of May 20. The morning
begins with an orientation breakfast at

Manatee Chamber Recognizes
Volunteer Leadership at
53rd Annual Dinner
2016
53rd ANNUAL
DINNER
It was another sold out crowd at this year’s Annual Dinner! We were honored to give a special thank you to the hundreds of Chamber
members who have given of their time, talent and treasures over the past year to further the Chamber’s mission.
Outgoing Chairman, Jonathan Fleece, was honored for his leadership during a year in which the Chamber accomplished so much.
Jonathan has been a true Champion for the Chamber’s mission and an engaged Chamber Chairman who has led with compassion,
integrity and great inspiration.
Jonathan, along with 2016 Chairman, Trudy Moon, and “Talk Show Host” Chris Pennewill of
Hancock Bank, held an on-stage conversation about the Chamber, its accomplishments during
this past year, and priorities for 2016. Trudy shared that the Chamber will give special emphasis
in 2016 to several key areas:
•
Small Business Resources
•
Education and Workforce Development,
•Advocacy
•
Young Professionals
•Technology
One of Trudy's main priorities this year is to focus the message about how critical the Manatee Chamber is to the success of your
business and to our community. As she said in her remarks, “If not the Manatee Chamber, then WHO?” and closed the evening with
a quote by Thomas Edison: “If we all did the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves!”

Leadership Manatee Class
Sees How Our Community
Shines
With only two days left in this year’s Leadership Manatee program, participants viewed
firsthand how our community works hard for its residents. During Land Use and
Transportation day, the class flew (figuratively) over to the Sarasota Bradenton International
Airport for updates on the remarkable strides the airport has made in serving our community.
For lunch, the group participated in an intimate discussion about community growth with
SMR CEO President Rex Jensen. Finally,
the class ended their day participating in
a land use mock hearing facilitated by the
Manatee County Planning and Permitting
Department.

On their final day, the class received
an overview of several organizations
that help our community’s most needy
citizens.
Although an emotional day,
Human Needs day is one of the most
informative and essential components of
the Leadership Manatee program. For
more information, please contact Jahna

Tech TIPS
Build Your Own Website in 20 Minutes
By David Grace, Abacus Web Services
Have you ever considered building your
own website? If you have some free time,
a reasonable amount of patience, a sense
of what you want to achieve and a wee bit
of an eye for design then read on. There
is an abundance of web-based, userfriendly tools that will assist you in your
quest. Companies like Wix, Weebly and
Squarespace all provide "drag and
drop" interfaces that make it straight
forward to add pages and insert
content whether that be text, images
or video.
would use, but both are identical in how you
update pages.
There are also other things to take into
account in building your own website,
such as you can’t really build a website
in 20 minutes (don’t believe the ads!
You may now be asking yourself
if I can build it so cheaply, why
are all of those ubiquitous web
designers so expensive?
Each platform provides starter
templates and the trick is to pick
the one that is closest to the look
and feel that you envision.
Then there is WordPress which
powers around 25% of all web sites
on the Internet today! It is the original
CMS (Content Management System)
and there are two distinct categories. First,
at wordpress.org, WordPress provides
hosting and a fairly configurable framework.
Or second, an independently hosted plan
because you may want the flexibility to edit
everything and anything in the site. This
is the plan that a professional developer
The cost of building your own website can
literally be from zero to $10-$20 per month.
However, representing your business with
a free site that has ads on it and a domain
that looks like yoursite.wix.com is simply
not a good business branding idea. It's
worth spending the few extra dollars to look
and be professional.
A website developer is no different
from anybody else to whom you
would outsource work. They have
to allow for their time, their tools
and the cost of having to continually
educate themselves to keep up with
the latest technologies.
Even with the best tool in the world you
still need to add content and customize the
design somewhat. It takes time to roll in the
content and make sure it looks good in both
your desktop and mobile devices. Actually,
this is your company’s image so change
that to make sure it looks great!
Whatever direction you decide
to take, these strategies are a good
starting point; make sure your web site is
professionally laid out, has its own domain,
is very apparent how to contact you and
works well on all devices. Good luck!
As part of our renewed focus on bringing technology news to our members, we’re launching Tech TIPS (Technology in Plain Speak) as
