Guest Speaker Visits Criminal Justice and
Forensic Science
On Saturday October 26th, students from the BVROP
Criminal Justice and Forensic Science classes had the
opportunity to hear from a legendary Guest Speaker!
Lieutenant. Gil Carrillo: LAPD, retired Homicide. Lt.
Carrillo was instrumental in apprehending serial killer
Richard Ramirez in the mid 80’s. Richard Ramirez
terrorized the Los Angeles area leaving behind many
victims. Students learned about the investigation,
evidence that led to his capture and the personal side
of being involved in such an intense case. Instructor

In Memory of Adrianne Deltoro
Tragedy struck the Baldy View ROP family on Sunday, November 17th, when
18 year old Adrianne Deltoro lost her life in a tragic car accident. Adrianne
was a beautiful, bright, intelligent and very motivated young girl who could
light up a room with her smile. She was the family's little ray of sunshine. She
leaves behind her mom and dad Tony & Valerie, her brother's Anthony &
Andrew, her sister Alyssa, her Nana Judy and many, many more extended
family and friends. Her memory will live on with all the lives that she touched
in her short life.
Adrianne was enrolled and completed several
Baldy View ROP courses: Criminal Justice,
Engineering Drawing, Architectural Drafting II,
and Cosmetology.
Also in the car were two other ROP students,
twin sisters, Cecilia and Priscilla Montes. Both
remain in critical condition.
Our thoughts and prayers are with their families.

Student Success Story
At a young age, Daniel Scotti knew he was
interested in technology and wanted to pursue his
passion. Daniel first heard about the ROP’s Stage
Design and Technology course from a fellow peer.
Shortly after, Daniel was enrolled in Bill Cox’s class at
Upland High School and would attend this class for
three semesters during his junior and senior year.
During his time in the courses, Daniel was able to find work, utilize his skills, and
begin making a career for himself.
After Mr. Scotti graduated high school, he enrolled at Citrus College and
began taking prerequisites for the Recording Arts Program. One of the
prerequisite classes was Stage Design. On the first day of class Daniel’s
experience and skills were recognized and he was offered employment as a
Technician for the college’s Performing Arts
Center because of his advanced skills that Mr.
Cox taught him.
During his time at Citrus College, Daniel was on
contract with Saddleback Church in Orange
County. They offered him a part-time position as
a Audio Visual Lighting (AVL) Technician. By the
end of that year, Daniel was asked to work fullLighting and Stage Design by Daniel
time as a Systems Manager for Saddleback’s
new community building, The Refinery. During the
construction of the building, he was responsible for researching, purchasing, and
securing AVL equipment and systems. Once The Refinery opened, Daniel was
responsible for training student volunteers, which many of them now work on staff
at Saddleback or at Disneyland in Technical Services.
Recently, Daniel has been promoted to Saddleback Churches as a Technical
Production Director. He now oversees all production elements at Saddleback
which has an average weekly audience of 20,000 people. Daniel wants to thank
Bill Cox and the ROP for giving him the opportunity and experience to have a
solid foundation and background in technical theater. We wish him well on his
pathway to prosperity!
