A smarter faucet
More than a decade ago, inspired by observing how
people use their kitchen faucets, our research and development team realized that people with full or messy hands
needed a more convenient way to activate the faucet. And
the concept of utilizing touch activation in Delta and Brizo
faucets was born.
In 2005, touch and hands-free functionality was introduced into luxury kitchens with the Brizo Pascal® culinary
faucet with SmartTouch® Technology. Three years later, the
launch of the Delta Pilar® pull-down kitchen faucet with
Touch2O Technology made innovative touch functionality
on faucets more broadly available. Today, with hundreds
of thousands of faucets sold, our touch technologies have
helped transform the way people use their faucets.
Delta Touch2O Technology and Brizo SmartTouch
faucets are thoughtfully designed for precise, responsive
control—no matter where you touch on the spout or
handle. The secret: capacitance technology. (Learn more
on page 3.) There’s no special motion required. No sensor
window to mar the design or keep clean. And no need to
find “the zone” with infrared technology. With the handle
in the “on” position, simply tap anywhere on the faucet
spout or handle to turn the water on. Tap again to turn
it off. Water temperature and volume can be easily
controlled with the handle.

more functionality. more choice.
Today, the Delta brand offers Touch2O Technology
on more than 45 kitchen and bar/prep faucets in a range
of styles and finishes to fit any kitchen décor. After years of
feedback, we found that homeowners appreciate the precise
control and responsiveness that Touch2O Technology
affords in the kitchen for tasks that require a constant flow
of water, such as rinsing
dishes and filling glasses.
It makes it easy to turn
the water on when you
need it, and off when you
don’t—also helping to
conserve water.
Consumer bath
research has also shown
us that for repetitive tasks, like washing hands and rinsing
toothbrushes, hands-free activation provides added convenience. That’s why we’ve combined touch functionality
with hands-free operation in our Touch2O.xt™ Technology
faucets for the bathroom. (Find out more on pages 4-5.)
Watch for more innovations
Most recently, the Brizo product team advanced this
technology even further, by combining SmartTouchPlus™
Technology with TempIQ™ Temperature Control in the
Odin™ electronic lavatory faucet. (See the complete Odin
Bath Collection on pages 6-7.)
As we continue to receive feedback, we’ll evolve and
expand our Delta and Brizo product portfolio of touch
technologies. We look forward to bringing you and your
clients more smart innovations that can elevate the kitchen
and bath experience to new levels.

Celebrating 5 Years of Delta
Touch2O Technology
®
®
This year, Delta Faucet Company
celebrates the 5th anniversary
of its Touch2O Technology.
Now in its third generation,
the technology continues to set
Delta faucets apart by offering an
easy, consistent way to activate a
faucet. With Touch2O Technology,
simply touch anywhere on the
spout or handle with a wrist or
forearm to start or stop the flow
of water. It makes it easy to keep
the faucet clean and helps prevent
cross-contamination.
Reliable Technology
Delta faucets with Touch2O
Technology utilize capacitance
technology—the same technology found in other touch devices
such as smartphones and tablets.
Unlike faucets with infrared sensing, which are commonly found
in airports and other public
spaces, there’s no need to find
a specific activation zone. Plus,
outside factors such as lighting
conditions or clothing color do
not interfere with the capacitance
sensing capability.
Capacitance technology is
“From the youngest to the oldest, we all enjoy the
change this product has brought into our lives.
As you start to use the faucet, you find yourself
touching other faucets only to realize they have
to be turned on and adjusted every time.”
incredibly reliable because the
human body acts as a capacitor,
meaning it can store electrical
energy. Touch2O Technology
“Touch2O Technology is
amazingly intuitive and extremely
responsive to the user, resulting in
economies of motion and ease of
use,” says Bob Rodenbeck, director of research and development,
Delta Faucet Company. “The
technology itself is largely invisible to homeowners with minimal
impact on faucet design.”
faucets incorporate touch sensors,
which measure capacitance in the
environment. When someone
touches the faucet—anywhere on
the spout or handle—it senses the
change in capacitance and turns
the water on or off as needed.
Capacitance technology is so
sensitive it can detect even the
slightest variations in touch—
measuring it in milliseconds of
time—to distinguish between a
touch and a grab.

hands-free in the bath
The Delta brand continues
to change the way people interact
with their faucets by combining
touch technology with hands-free
functionality in the bath. Faucets

with Touch2O.xt™ Technology
make it easier than ever to keep the
bathroom clean and help conserve
water. Homeowners have the ability to tap on and off the faucet, or
go completely hands free.
In hands-free mode, the entire
faucet acts as a sensor. There are
no “zones” to find. Simply move
hands within four inches of the
faucet to activate the water. It
automatically shuts off within
seconds once hands are removed
from the sensing field.
A smarter way
Touch technologies are highly
responsive, reliable and widely
accepted, making Touch2O and
Touch2O.xt Technologies well
suited for the home.
“Touch technology continues
to expand into new applications, but
it isn’t something people normally
expect to see on kitchen or bath
faucets,” notes Rodenbeck. “Our
research and development team is
constantly looking for relevant
technologies that help give people
a better way to live with water.” i

Just beyond the glass French
doors, which separate the cabana
from the formal patio, the intense
aqua blue water of the Olympicsize pool entices visitors to plunge
into its alluring depths. Its vibrant
colors served as the inspiration for
interior designer Stacy Riley when
she redesigned the cabana of the
2012 Decorators’ Show House in
Indianapolis, Indiana. The historical residence was the focus of the
annual fundraiser organized by
St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild for
Wishard Health Services.
Riley, owner of Compass
Design, LLC, in Indianapolis,
transformed the previous blank
white canvas into a fresh, sophis-
ticated space that is light, bright
and fun.
“I envision people coming
out here as an escape,” Riley
says. “I wanted it to be a really
sophisticated space, to fit the style
of the house.”
Add depth and warmth
In a sea of white—everything
from the countertops and floor, to
the walls and cabinetry—Riley’s
challenge was to add depth and
warmth with an updated, clean
look. To accomplish that goal, she
removed the existing cabinetry and
added back finishes and textures
that transformed the room… mixing old with new, distressed with

sleek, and stainless with bronze.
On the walls, a pale blue shade
of the pool’s rich color sets the
tone. Accent pieces in the same
hues reiterate the calm, cool
environment.
The nearly floor-to-ceiling
oak cabinetry, custom-designed
by Riley, is sheathed in a base

layer of gray paint, applied
very lightly to provide an
aged, ‘beachy’ feel. She
topped it with a whitewashed
layer of white paint, which is
also used full-strength on lower
cabinets on the sink-side of the
peninsula. The custom, distressed
gray finish is repeated on the
limed oak on the other side.
A bronze mirror finish on
the upper doors catches visitors’
attention while reflecting the
inspirational pool. It complements sleek Arctic Pearl quartzite
countertops. “A lot of people
think they’re marble, but they’re
not,” she notes. “It adds a really
interesting aspect to the space.”
Mixing metals
Riley isn’t afraid to go against
the grain by mixing metals, choosing to blend the Delta Trinsic
pull-down faucet in a Champagne
Bronze™ finish with a stainless steel
sink. Her desire was to show people
that it’s acceptable to mix finishes.
“You can do that and create a
wonderful composition,” she says.
The designer was drawn to
the brushed finish in large part
because of its warm tones. “It’s a
nice option that still looks soft,”
she says. “It’s a little different than
the typical brushed nickel. I think
it’s a little more interesting.”
The faucet’s urban-styled,
modern design fits well with
Riley’s desire for clean, simple
lines that make the space feel
fresh and inviting.
The Trinsic faucet also offers
modern technology, including
Touch2O® Technology. It gives
users the ability to tap the faucet
to start and stop the flow of water.
Touch activation helps keep the
faucet clean—even when hands
are a mess. Designed for precise,
reliable control every time—no
matter where you touch on the
spout or handle—it also helps
to conserve water by making it
easy to turn off the water when
not needed between tasks.
Update the look
Riley carried the same clean
lines and sophistication of the
cabana into the men’s and
women’s bathrooms, which are
nearly mirror images of each
other on each side of the cabana.
She wanted to update the
look in both bathrooms, without
reinventing them. As such, she
focused on cosmetic changes,
including refacing the cabinetry,
adding new fixtures and accessories, and replacing the vanity
tops, sinks and shower doors.
Riley designed the door fronts
with recessed panels as well as
architectural details and a white
finish that match the cabinetry
in the cabana. She topped each
vanity with Arctic Pearl quartzite
and new undermount sinks.
To add interest to the space,
the designer trimmed the existing mirror with white moulding,
and layered a dark-trimmed,
octagon-shaped mirror on top.
Delta Addison faucets in a
Champagne Bronze finish add
warmth to each bath. They, too,
feature innovative functionality.
Touch2O.xt™ Technology combines touch functionality with
hands-free operation. Turn the
water on and off with a touch
anywhere on the faucet. Or,
simply move your hand close to
the faucet and the water turns
on automatically. Remove hands
from the four-inch sensing
area and the faucet turns off.
Riley feels both technologies
are a benefit to homeowners.
“Touch activation is great when
you have your hands full, or when
they’re dirty,” she says. “Handsfree technology in the bathroom
is even more essential. You don’t
ever have to touch the faucet.” i

The Brizo® Odin™
Bath Collection

technology
With inventive technologies
and a unique rotating handle, the
Odin electronic lavatory faucet
made its debut last year as part of
the Jason Wu for Brizo™ Powder
Room Suite. Distinguished by a
signature Matte Black finish,
hand selected by Wu himself, the
faucet and its distinctive baroqueinspired accessories offered a
definitive statement on “fashion
for the home.”
Now, that single, captivating
faucet has inspired an entire bath
suite. The Odin Bath Collection
invokes the same sleek, seamless architecture as the original,
carrying it throughout a variety
of faucet configurations, shower
components and accessories.
The collection is available in
Brilliance® Brushed Nickel and
Polished Chrome finishes, as well
as the sleek Matte Black finish in
an expanded Jason Wu for Brizo
offering, now a special edition
within the Odin Collection.
Minimalist design
Influenced by Scandinavian
heritage, the collection offers clean
lines and a minimalist design that
proves simple need not be boring.
“If I had to sum up the Odin
design in one phrase it would
be, ‘addition by subtraction’,”

time spent studying Scandinavian
furniture made me appreciate
the value of reducing something

magic. The name Odin perfectly
represents the collection, which
features inventive technologies
that surprise and delight.
For example, the handle in
the single-handle electronic faucet
rotates at an unexpected 45-degree
angle, delivering an elegant stream
of water. Building upon this
extraordinary design element,
the faucet incorporates functionality that brings added luxury
and convenience to the bath.
With an electronic valve
tucked below the countertop,
Brizo product designers were
able to completely reimagine
the faucet’s architecture, creating a sleek, streamlined profile.
This new electronic valve
system also enables a number
of cutting-edge technologies,
including SmartTouchPlus™
Technology and TempIQ™
Temperature Control Technology.
The next generation of
Brizo SmartTouch®
Technology,
SmartTouchPlus
Technology enhances
the existing touch
functionality to
also detect when
a user’s hands are
anywhere within
four inches of the
faucet, allowing for both handsfree and touch-sensitive operation.
An LED light built into the
base of the faucet lets users know
if they are in touch mode (solid
color) or hands-free mode
(flashing).
TempIQ Temperature Control
The Odin Bath Collection features a complete suite of products and accessories,
including the towel bar, drawer hardware and light sconces showcased in this space.
Technology senses the water
before the user does. The LED
light changes color from blue to
magenta to red, letting users know
exactly when water has reached the
desired temperature. It also adjusts
the water mixture to ensure a consistent temperature, while a hightemperature limit stop offers an
added degree of safety in the bath.
Complete Suite
The Odin Collection features
a complete suite of products for a
full range of design configurations.
In addition to single-handle electronic lavatory and vessel faucets,
it includes widespread, wall mount
and Roman tub faucets, available
with an optional handshower.
In the shower, TempAssure®
Medium Flow and Sensori® High
Flow Thermostatic custom
shower trims complement 2.0

and showerheads as well as an
8-inch ceiling mount raincan
showerhead. A 2.5 gpm Hydrati™

Surprise and Delight with
the Brizo Odin X faucet
Expanding upon the desire to surprise and delight, the
Brizo Odin X faucet offers a unique option within the Odin
Bath Collection.
Like the other models in the Odin Collection, the
Odin X faucet provides a beautiful and intriguing
focal point for a minimalist space. “We wanted
to create something that was visually stunning
and simple, but with a bit of a surprise,”
says Seth Fritz, lead industrial designer
for Brizo products.
The surprise comes in the form of the
three-piece design where the spout appears to pierce
the main hub. This element is especially stunning in the
Polished Chrome/Matte Black and Brilliance® Brushed
Nickel/Matte Black split finish combinations.
“We wanted to stay true to the overall feel of the
Odin Collection,” notes Fritz. “But the piercing of the
spout gives the simple design a bit of visual tension that adds
to the faucet's sculptural feel.”
The Odin X faucet will feature optional SmartTouchPlus
Technology and will be available this fall.
*As compared to the Industry Standard ASME A112.18.1/CSA B125.1 of 2.2 gpm for lavatory faucets and 2.5 gpm for showerheads.
