All programs in Yerba Buena Gardens are FREE to the public and include music, theater, dance, spoken word, and family and children’s programming. “Yerba Buena Gardens Festival is an exceptional venue for artists of all persuasions!! It is as important and creative as any gallery or museum in the city and watching the crowds of people enjoying open access to creative energy is a SF tradition that is fading away… except for the beautiful work by the folks at Yerba Buena Gardens!! Keep up the excellent spark!!” 2 012 S e a s o n R e p o r t 3 “The Festival is essential to providing cultural activities to displaced residents in San Francisco.” “Really appreciate the wide diversity of performers YBG Festival has; the AXIS dance group is one that many people would not otherwise be aware of or be able to see perform.” “Keep up the great work – giving the gift of music to our community! It is so wonderful that these shows are accessible to all. The crowds are always so diverse and I really appreciate that!” “Great location. Appreciate the free admission. Do not often get to see Na Lei Hulu I Ka Wekiu so this is a treat!” 2 012 S e a s o n R e p o r t 4 “…a perfect day in San Francisco, the Omar Sosa event was amazing. THANK YOU for putting on these events!!!” 2 012 S e a s o n R e p o r t 5 “Circus Bella was so great, better than I even hoped.” 2 012 S e a s o n R e p o r t 6 Through a study funded by the Hewlett Foundation, Yerba Buena Gardens Festival worked with Wolf Brown & Associates to collect data on the 2012 season audience. “I really like the YBGF series, and I try to go to as many as I can. Thanks very much for holding them! I’m impressed that they have such a long run each year.” 19% Audience Gender & Age Attendance totals 75+ 65-74 Audience Attendance: 97,156 Number of Programs: 104 03% 10% 55-64 41% male 58% female ave age 49.4 ave age 48.2 Participating Artists: 1,132 Off-site Audience Attendance: 6,321 Number of Off-site Programs: 12 Participating Off-site Artists: 51 45-54 28% 20% Audience Ethnicity HISPANIC, Latino, or Spanish origin White, non-Hispanic 52% Asian 17% Other or mixed 14% Black or African American 07% 35-44 15% Native Hawaiian or Pacific Island 02% 28-34 19% 02% 18-24 06% American Indian or Alaska Native $ Language other than english spoken at home Highest Education Level Household Income Spanish 24% Graduate or professional 38% > $200k 07% Chinese 07% Bachelor’s degree 33% $150-199k 07% Tagalog 03% Associate’s degree 07% $100-150k 16% Japanese 02% Some college 15% $75-99k 12% Hindi 01% High school 04% $50-74k 18% Korean 01% 9-12th grade 02% $35-49k 13% Other 19% < 9th grade 01% $25-34k 08% $15-24k 07% $10-14k 04% < $10k 08% 14% Earn a portion of living from Performing or creating ARt 19% Currently an artist 35% Was an artist earlier in life 46% Not an artist 11% consider self part of a Disability Community 2 012 S e a s o n R e p o r t 7 “We were first time visitors to San Francisco, celebrating our wedding anniversary.
