Principal’s Message
Dear St. Martha Family,
It is difficult to believe that we are already in November and that the cold weather is upon us. The
past several weeks have been very busy and wonderfully productive at our school. We have had so
many involved parents come in to volunteer and we want to thank you all for your hard work and
continued dedication!
As we all know, there will be more cold weather to come and it reminds us that “ Old Man Winter” is
here. Please ensure that your children are dressed properly for the colder weather and have a coat,
ski pants, hat and mittens.
We will continue to enjoy outdoor recess whenever possible (up to -20) to allow students to get fresh air and exercise.
In past years the snowfall has also been quite heavy and visibility has, at some times, been rather limited. Please
remember to drive safely, use proper crosswalks, and remain in your vehicle when using the “drop off zones”. Also,
please make certain that your child has reflective clothing on.
Finally, congratulations to our grade four students who recently participated in a very meaningful BIBLE celebration
with our parish. We look forward to the continued positive relationship between home, school, and parish.
We will continue to work together to make our St. Martha Family School the very BEST that can be.

Library News for September and October
Welcome back to our library programming. I look forward to reading
to and with your children.
Library Stars – Awarded to students each week based on Being Quiet
in the Library, Treating the Books gently putting them back straight,
and remembering their Library Books. Each student chosen receives a
library star bookmark, their star hangs on the wall in the library
and they get to sit in the library star chairs during library time.
Grades 4 to 6 work on a team effort for Library Stars. They
receive/lose points for being quiet, being tidy, and remembering their
library books. In September 5B won an extra time in the Library as
their reward. They could read, play board games and do crafts.
All Classes have a chance of winning an extra time in the library,
even our little EEPers.
September Contests – Congratulations to Hannah in 3G – She won the
Minion Watch in our Back to the Library Contest
Congratulations to Maria in 2B – She won the $25 gift certificate to
Coles for our Summer Reading Program Contest.
There are regular contests on Scholastic Canada. Parents and
students can go on to the website and pull the information that they
need. We introduce them to the students and can send their entries in
from here. We will also have occasional contests through the Library.
