Thabazimbi - When walking into the South Africa’s Woman’s Federation’s local
second hand shop in 5 Park Avenue, one feels like being in a well organised thrift
shop.
The clothes, all sponsored by the public, is washed, ironed and sewed (if needed)
then hanged up according to sizes. This ensures that people, who can’t afford buying from expensive clothing shops, have a pleasant shopping experience.

took a team effort of both SAWF staff and volunteers to plan, sort and clean the
clothes in order for the shop to be functional as it is today.
The “Hearts with Hands” team thanks the community for all the donations they
receive on an ongoing basis. “The SAWF receives donations of clothes, bedding,
linen and white elephant items for the clothing shop from the community which is
a blessing for the shop to function,” spokesperson Linda van Wyngaardt told Platinum Bushvelder.
Clothes are sold at affordable prices, from R2 to R20. The cash made from the
second hand clothing shop goes towards the needs for SAWF. The shop is open
on a Wednesday and Friday from 07:00 - 13:00 for the public.
Regorogile - Thabazimbi Community Based Organisation’s Drop-In Centre in Shai Drive caters
for almost 200 young people, including orphans, on a daily basis. Manager Sarah Mawe said that
they’re feeding the needy breakfast, lunch and supper, assisting them with their school home work
and help them relax with activities like netball, football, debate and drama. “We are calling upon
prospective donors to contribute to assist us to reach our goal of helping needy people,” Sarah told

assets, cupboards, stationary, cleaning materials, dishes, chairs, tables, pots, toilets, stipend for
volunteers (care givers), uniforms for care givers, clothes for orphans and vulnerable children, toys
and an information sign board.
