ST. JORGE ISLAND St. Jorge island is one of the nine islands of the azorean archipelago that makes part of Portugal and is located in the Atlantic Ocean. The island has 53 km long, 8 km width and has about 10 500 inhabitants. Azores map Velas town Waterfall in fajã de S. João Velas is the main town in our island and is where our school is located (Escola Básica e Secundária de Velas) St. Jorge map Velas town with the Pico island in front (Pico island has the highest mountain in Portugal) ESCOLA BÁSICA E SECUNDÁRIA DE VELAS 5ºC CLASS The class has a total of 20 students, 8 boys and 12 girls, ages from 9 to 10. IMPORTANT PLACES In our Island there are several important places to visit that are related to nature and local history.
