Silent Gliss, as the leading global supplier of curtain and blind systems to the high-end market, has equipped the new apartments with high-quality motorised roller blind systems Silent Gliss 4960 throughout. Design and functionality of these systems meet the unique demands of this one-of-a-kind skyscraper in the heart of Warsaw. They open the view to the city skyline while at the same time convey a cosy ambiance. The selected fabric “Doubletex Light” was specifically developed for the Cosmopolitan Tower to fulfil several functionalities. On one hand the fabric is transparent to allow enjoyment of the breathtaking views of Warsaw, but at the same time it offers high privacy for the interior of the apartment. The dark external face of the fabric also ensures a uniform appearance of the entire Cosmopolitan Tower from the outside, a design objective by star architect Helmut Jahn. Laid out over 1000 square metres, the new department within Hotel Säntispark provides personalised care to residents of the region, individual guests residing in the hotel, athletes and teams requiring medical and therapeutic support. Combined with the partner hotel and the existing leisure and fitness infrastructure at Säntispark, this has created a unique facility in the St Gallen conurbation, attracting guests from far beyond the regional borders. The soft forms of the Wave curtains ideally complement the new treatment and training facilities, imbuing the design with a particularly modern feel. Colorama 1 fabric by Silent Gliss successfully balances transparency with appropriate privacy for the athletes, clients and patients, leaving the rooms bathed in an enchantingly salubrious light. Photographer: Hannes Thalmann 6 Wave XL Wave 80mm Wave 60mm 7 Shading Specialists, London Tzar Interiors, London Private Residence, Essex, United Kingdom This key challenge for this residential project was working closely with the client who was absolutely clear and certain about what they wanted to achieve. Huge images had to be laid out across large areas of fabric with critical attention to precise overlaps on the panels. The fabric choice had to be carefully considered to ensure that the images were of the highest quality whilst managing the light and glare resulting from vast expanses of glass windows. Silent Gliss fabric Multi Shadow was selected as the ideal fabric for digital printing and laser cutting due to its fine structure. Each room had a theme ranging from “nature” to “cityscape” and the project resulted in over 30 digitally printed panels. This was a great example of a project where detailed checking and planning paid off, everything was perfect first time! Digital Print and Laser Cut Silent Gliss offer a professional printing and laser cut service so you can completely individualise your system. The artwork has to be provided by customer. Digital Print • Logo, picture and holohedral printing possible. • Fabrics can be printed over the entire surface with any kind of Pantone colour! • The best results are achieved if printed fabrics are used with the following systems: roller blinds, panel glides and vertical blinds. • The maximum printing width is 320cm. Laser Cut • The cutting-out of individual designs is possible with fabrics from The Silent Gliss Collection. Photographer: Chris Lee 8 9 raumzeit Architekten BDA, Berlin Masto Dekorationen GmbH + Co KG, Essen Lecture Hall Campus Center (HCC), Kassel, Germany Silent Gliss Electric Curtain Track Systems Six large and bright lecture halls, seminar rooms and plenty of space for advisory services: the new Lecture Hall Campus Center now takes centre stage on the university grounds in Kassel. Providing roughly 5700 square metres of useful floor space, the facility creates a venue for roughly 2650 students to attend lectures. Product features • Electric curtain systems for retail and contract use. • Horizontal, straight and curved systems possible. • Applicable motors for small, medium and large curtain tracks. Shaped like a pentagon, the aluminium facade of the Lecture Hall Campus Center shimmers in silver. The ascending lines of the individual lecture halls are clearly visible along the building’s longer sides. Slanted window facades provide clear views of the auditoria laid out inside. Interior shading and antiglare protection is provided by a Silent Gliss 5300 electric curtain track system for heavy curtains extending up to 16 metres, designed to further underscore the sculptural, raised of look the outer facade. Slanted at a gradient of 19 degrees, the ceiling above the lecture halls is a particular architectural feature but means that the electric curtain track always carries the tensile load exerted by the curtains’ weight. • Multiple stack possible. • Integration in modern (home) automation systems. • Daylight and timer control possible. • Modern and easy to use remote controls. Designed by raumzeit Architekten BDA, Berlin, the Lecture Hall Campus Center at the University of Kassel is winner of the German VCF Facade Award 2015. Silent Gliss system 5300 for heavy curtain tracks Photographer: Werner Huthmacher, Berlin 10 11 Kume Sekkei Co., Ltd., Nagoya AEON Chubu Head School Building, Nagoya, Japan AEON is a language school established in 1973. The new headquarters are located in a tall, transparent building, which is planned to become the new symbol of Nagoya city. By combining the straight and curved lines of the curtain tracks Silent Gliss 5300 and 3840, Silent Gliss created a curtain space in the shape of a cylinder that when seen from the outside of the building looks like a “tube of light”. In the external corridors, the folding panel systems Silent Gliss 2640 were selected. These can express a wide range of emotions by simply changing the angles of the panels. All panels of the system can be controlled simultaneously – creating an appearance of rhythmical and unified movement from both inside and outside of the building. Silent Gliss Folding Panel System Product features • Unique sliding panel system that allows folding of panels. • Stunning effects through the 3-D shape. • One system can carry up to 8 panels. • Depending on the total system width, panels can be selected in three different size ranges. • Easy removal of fabrics for cleaning thanks to easy click-in hangers and Velcro tape. • Symmetrical and asymmetrical stacking possible. Photographer: Hiroaki Hayashi, Rococo Produce inc. 12 Panel movements 13 Simply Blinds and Tracks, Broadstairs The Point, Broadstairs, United Kingdom A great example of where Silent Gliss products can be specified across many apartments in a single development. The residents of this large luxury apartment complex wanted to optimise the look of the building from the outside as well as the inside. All apartments agreed to install Silent Gliss Wave on the main side of the building which gave an overall co-ordinated and stylish effect to onlookers. The Penthouse apartment was a great opportunity to showcase Wave XL to it’s best. Combined with other motorised roller blinds, this project is a great example of how Silent Gliss can use it’s wide product range to meet the needs of any kind of shading requirement. Motorised Silent Gliss Roller Blind System Product features • Medium/medium-heavy duty motorised roller blind system. •Wall, ceiling or recess fitting. Special features like adjustable stainless steel brackets for easy vertical adjustment of fabric. •Connected systems can be mounted using an intermediate snap-in bracket for easy fitting from below. Systems are operated simultaneously with one motor. •Operation is carried out at the touch of a button – for continuous roll up and roll off and for positioning the blind at any height. Swissotel The Bosphorus, Istanbul, Turkey Awarded Europe Luxury 2013 by World Luxury Hotel Awards, Swissotel The Bosphorus, Istanbul is a five-star luxury hotel right in the centre of Istanbul on the European banks of the Bosphorus. The challenge for this project was the number of rooms involved with 92 rooms being installed with motorised curtain tracks Silent Gliss 5400 and a further 12 with Venetian blind systems Silent Gliss 8950. Silent Gliss Electric Curtain Track System Product features • Electric curtain systems for retail and contract use. • Horizontal, straight and curved systems. • Motors for small, medium and large curtain tracks. • Multiple stack. • Integration in modern (home) automation systems. • Control by fixed switch, remote, daylight or timer. • Modern and easy to use remote controls. The technical requirements are particularly complex inside the facility. The dominant colour is a vibrant yellow, which together with the sliding doors and privacy curtains creates a warm atmosphere. All of the routes within the treatment wing were reorganised to ensure an ideal layout. Cosy, cafe-style easy chairs nurture a relaxed atmosphere, and hence contribute to an almost homely overall feel on the corridors of the ward. For the panel glides, system Silent Gliss 2700 was installed. This project took a holistic design concept with aesthetically pleasing and stringent material selection that takes its inspiration from residential and hotel buildings. Even the floors were designed with a wood-look vinyl in the patient treatment rooms. The consistently light-coloured material selection is interspersed with colourful highlights in the furniture, wall panelling, and in the Wave curtains. Silent Gliss Panel Glide Systems Product features • Decorative and bendable panel glide system for retail and contract purposes. • Smooth and silent panel movement due to the sophisticated rollers. • Stylish carriers in aluminium or transparent material. • Click-in carriers available. • Optional recess profile for perfect finish. • Free floating, cord or electrically operated. • Wide range of fabrics for individual design. Nicola Kasakoff Styria Media Center, Graz, Austria Originally founded in 1869, Styria is today among Austria’s leading media groups. A fresh era in the history of the corporation began when it moved into the new Media Center in Graz. The Styria Media Group now has a new headquarters that accommodates up to 1200 workstations across 15 floors. This state-of-the-art facility, certified to LEED standards (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) and designed as a ‘Green Building’, gives Styria a new face as it moves forward into the future. It is hardly surprising, therefore, that sun blind and antiglare systems by Silent Gliss are in use. The building is fitted with motorised roller blind and electric curtain track systems. The specialist commissioned to design room acoustics selected the Jumbotex fabric by Silent Gliss to improve the sound in the open plan offices and the in-house kindergarten. The roller blind systems in the offices use Lightscreen fabric by Silent Gliss to guarantee the necessary antiglare protection. Silent Gliss Screens Product features • Silent Gliss screens are the technical fabrics for the most functional demands. • Optimised glare control with maximum view outside. • Fabrics with reflective aluminium coating or white backings for minimising heat transmittance. • All fabrics are flame retardant or even flame resistant. • Various transparencies within the same fabric type enable a building to use the same fabric for all windows regardless of which direction they face. • Variety of colours, transparencies and structures. • All Silent Gliss acoustic fabrics are tested according to ISO/EN standards. Photographer: Franz Ebner 20 21 Neumann + Partner, Vienna FG stijl, Amsterdam Signa Prime Selection AG, Vienna Park Hyatt Vienna, Vienna, Austria The Park Hyatt Vienna opened its doors at the plushest location in the city centre of Vienna. The century-old, former bank building was transformed into a luxury hotel in just three years, an extraordinary example for the revitalisation and repurposing of historical structures. The 108 luxurious and generously appointed rooms and 35 suites offer their guests timelessly elegant design with typically Viennese touches. High standards were set in the operation and durability of the predominantly motorised curtain systems in the guests’ rooms and public areas to withstand the rigours of hotel use. The Park Hyatt upholds the highest standards of quality, which ultimately prompted the decision – following stringent review by the principals – to select Silent Gliss products. TKEZ architecture & design, Munich HKR Raumausstattung GmbH, Stahnsdorf One Football, Berlin, Germany The One Football headquarters in Berlin is among the “10 coolest office spaces” and the 6 top start-ups in Berlin. Founded 2008, the company employs a team of 90 programmers and designers delivering applications and services to a global football community. TKEZ architecture & design from Munich was contracted to create a motivational and professional working environment. The light colours create an expansive sense of space, highlighted to a substantial degree by the use of transparent walls. The wall and ceiling-mounted electric curtain track system Silent Gliss 5400 with Wave for moderately heavy curtains is used in the individual offices and conference rooms. In most rooms the system is installed in 90-degree arcs with a radius of 28 centimetres. The white curtains with Colorama 2 fabric in Wave configuration create a wonderfully calm, yet playfully temporary, partition of the room. A special curtain overlap was developed to enable access to the rooms, even when the curtains are closed. Photographer: Matthew Shaw 22 Photographer: Roland Troll 23 Agence Nuel, Architect Jean-Philippe Nuel Hotel Molitor, Paris, France Opened in 1929, Hotel Molitor was the most popular swimming baths in Paris for 60 years because of its two pools, galas and avant-garde atmosphere. It closed in 1989, and is classified as a historic monument. It was later acquired by artists who transformed the dilapidated building into an enormous urban art space. Thereafter, it became a shrine for the Parisian underground. In 2014, the Molitor was reborn as a luxury hotel within the MGallery chain (Groupe Accor), making it a unique place featuring living spaces and rooms with a simple, clean decor. The hand operated curtain track system Silent Gliss 6010 was chosen with great care, not only to embrace the rounded shapes of the furnishings, but also for its “elliptical design”, which integrates seamlessly with the contemporary style of the hotel. Möbel Schaller, Geuensee Architekt Henzer Alfred, Oftringen Raiffeisenbank, Schötz, Switzerland Raiffeisenbank opened its branch in a new build along the main road leading right through the village of Schötz. The cubic building is widely regarded as an architecturally appealing and modern property. The vertical blind system Silent Gliss 2810 with 127mm slats suits the building perfectly. The uniquely individual light management of this system permits is a source of constant wonder. A vertical blind system in “Andrea” design was used in the individual consultancy and conference rooms and in the cafeteria. This feature adds a particularly upmarket look to the interior and the view from outside the building, creating a very special atmosphere quite unusual for a bank. Photos: Möbel Schaller 24 Photographers: Gilles Trillard / Christophe Dugied / Boris Zuliani 25 Bernhard Freiburghaus Interior Design, Gasel Bauart Architekten und Planer AG, Bern House of Religions, Bern, Switzerland The House of Religions is used by cultural and religious communities from the city and canton of Bern. It is located right in Bern’s centre, on Europaplatz, where its hallowed halls offer the world’s major religions space for discussion, culture, social interaction and learning. Colorama 2 fabric was used to partition the rooms and to improve the acoustics. The Sunset curtain material ideally shades the upper sections of the premises. The combination of these two selected textiles guarantees optimal use, equipping the facility with rooms where over 1000 people can attend functions undisturbed. English Point Marina, Mombasa English Point Marina, Mombasa, Kenya The English Point Marina is a modern international development that offers the best in lifestyle and luxury, as well as the region’s first serviced marina to cater for the luxury boating market. The premium penthouse apartments were lavished with a beautiful array of Silent Gliss products, and the designers particularly loved the panel fold, not only for its shading possibilities but because of its unique operating style and stacking requirements, maximising the fantastic view looking across at the historic Fort Jesus. Photographer: Karim Kara, Megapixels 26 Photographer: Martin Knecht, Silent Gliss 27 Camilleriparismode Ltd., Rabat Rabat Loft, Malta Camilleriparismode projects and design team were approached to rethink a previously unused double height room in a wonderful villa. The lower part of the room was planned as a sitting and dining area, the sub level above as a tv den and games room. This residential project required some innovative solutions when designing the 6-meter long velvet curtains that framed a newly renovated loft. The extreme height along with the heavy fabric needed a reliable & hassle-free curtain track system that could not only support the weight of the fabric but do so with ease. Silent Gliss profile 2191 with roller gliders was selected, a perfect solution ensuring the smooth operation and movement of the curtain. Agence Nuel, Architect Jean-Philippe Nuel Hotel le Cinq Codet, Paris, France Situated at the heart of Paris, in the ultra ”chic“ Invalides district, this former 1930s industrial building was audaciously transformed into a highly unusual luxury hotel! Composed of large, doubleheight bay windows with curved lines, Hotel le Cinq Codet, and its 67 rooms of 29 different types offers expansive inner spaces as artist’s Studios. To meet the high standards demanded by such luxury 5-star hotels, Silent Gliss 5400 electric curtain track system for the curtains and double channel Silent Gliss 5420 systems to ensure the blackout curtains crossover correctly were installed. Because of the layout of some rooms, made-to-measure curved tracks to fit perfectly into the arches of the façade were manufactured. In addition, to ensure customer comfort, Silent Gliss electric curtain tracks offer technical performance and almost completely silent operation! Photographer: Brian Green 28 Photographers: Gilles Trillard / Christophe Dugied / Boris Zuliani 29 Dearnleys Ltd., Wakefield Bowcliffe Hall, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom Bowcliffe Hall is a stately home now hosting large events. The Blackburn Wing is a 2000 sq. ft. tree house conference and event venue shaped like an airplane wing and nestled in ancient woodland at the heart of the Bowcliffe Estate. The challenge for Silent Gliss was to specify and discreetly fit products to work perfectly on sloping ceilings with an open plan design objective. With the motorised roller blind systems Silent Gliss 4960 and 4880, the perfect solution was found. Pötscher Design GmbH, Ing. Manfred Pötscher, Lambach Private residence in Lower Austria The stylish private office was lavishly planned and fitted with a great many highlights. The two sweeping bay windows across the facade of the building were elaborately equipped with manual and motorised Silent Gliss Vertical Waves systems. The planners used lighting effects to accentuate the stylish Vertical Waves. The Multi Shadow fabric from the Silent Gliss collection allows the slats to deflect the light just perfectly, creating a fascinating interplay between bright dashes and shadows. Photographer: Andrew Hepinstall 30 Photographer: Manfred Pötscher 31 Lista Office Vertriebs AG, Liebefeld-Bern Main Post Office, Bern, Switzerland The new headquarters of the Swiss Postal Service is an elongated building with over 30,000 square metres of floor space and a generously sized inner atrium, tied up within an eye-catching purpose-built structure on the Wankdorf estate in Bern. Roughly 1700 postal workers will be employed in the new build. Wave curtains combined with Colorama 2 fabric were installed in the various project rooms, the auditorium and in the conference room for the board of directors. Curtains with Wave were also fitted in the other 47 smaller conference rooms – known as aquariums – to improve the room acoustics. The selected Colorama fabrics in green 408 and beige 463 can quite rightly be described as ideal colour coding. Ekat & Cupal International Textile, Istanbul Manzara Restaurant, Istanbul, Turkey Conrad Istanbul Bosphorus hotel launched a brand new restaurant “Manzara” with amazing views overlooking to Bosphorus and Historical Peninsula. The windows were dressed with 10 large Silent Gliss Roman blind systems 2350 which were all wired in parallel to work together. The retailing area is situated on the 1st to 3rd floor. Silent Gliss motorised curtain tracks 5200 with Wave are installed on all the windows to create a comfortable, relaxed and soft shopping atmosphere. It matches perfectly the concept of the Hermes Maison. The 4th floor is the VIP/Exhibition Area. Roller blinds Silent Gliss 4960 are mounted and hidden into the ceiling. Additionally, a skylight shading system Silent Gliss 8600 in the ceiling allows optimal and adjustable shading. The combination of Silent Gliss 4960 and 8600 creates a unified and sunlight-adjustable space for all kinds of activities from events to exhibitions. Espace Concept Sarl, Geneva Indoor pool – Private villa, West-Switzerland After the transformation and renovation of a floor of this house in the Lake Geneva region, the entire Pool-Spa area of the House was renovated too. The site is surrounded by a large garden with art objects and tropical vegetation. The core project lies behind fully opening bay windows. This is in order to bring the garden into the house, and to remove the “indoor swimming pool” effect. The roller blind system Silent Gliss 4960 was equipped with the fabric Multiscreen 10% in colour 220. This fabric maintains a degree of transparency between the garden and the swimming pool, imparting a certain amount of privacy to this area whilst filtering the light when the sun is shining outside.
