THE MIDDLE TENNESSEE DIRT RIDERS MONTHLY NEWSLETTER
NEWS…
PAST RIDES…
Christmas Party… The holiday season is upon us and Christmas is
a mere 6 weeks away! Sloans Motorcycles is allowing us to have
our 2014 Christmas party in their store in Murfreesboro TN on
December 13th, starting at 6pm. Sloans will open the doors for
MTDR members at 4:00pm so that we can Christmas shop and
take advantage of their generous discounts. 15% off accessories
and 20% off parts.. Login to http://mtdr.org for more details.
Ol’ McDonald’s Ride… The day started off about 45 degrees but
the bon fire kept the 32 riders, that showed up, warm during the
riders meeting. The Fall leaves made the trail pretty slick at first
but after a few laps, the trail was burned in and the conditions
became perfect!
Spring Ride… Seems like it was just a couple months ago we had
our annual spring ride at Loretta Lynn’s ranch. The board of
directors is already busy starting to plan the 2015 Spring Ride.
The newly elected board has many fresh new ideas and is
planning on the best spring ride yet!
Community...The MTDR board is very excited about working with
our local motorcycling community. They are currently meeting
with vendors, store and shop owners to expand existing
relationships, forge new ones and rekindle ones that might have
faded over the years. This will benefit us all!
COMMENTARY…
AMA… MTDR is proud to be affiliated with The AMA (American
Motorcycle Association). In fact every single MTDR board member
is also a member of The AMA. Although MTDR does not require it,
we encourage all members to join the AMA. The money you pay
for your annual membership is used in many ways that benefit us
all. Safety education, legislation and motorcycle awareness are all
areas that the AMA works on for our benefit. You also receive a
monthly magazine and discounts at various retailers, hotels,
events, motorcycle rentals and more. For more info and to sign up,
check out http://www.americanmotorcyclist.com/
Trail Work… Just a reminder folks. The trail rides, that we all
participate in, take a lot of work. Trail cutting, posting arrows and
ribbons, cutting trees and clean up after the event are all done by
volunteers.
Tom Morelock gave his take on the event…”Got most of my
mistakes out on the first lap of the day, after that it was great. I
think this is probably the 3rd time I have ridden at D Mac's and
the trails conditions were the best I've seen it. Traction was really
good after the first couple of laps, and by the afternoon it was
near perfect.”

UPCOMING RIDES…
Joe Tichenor’s ride… In order to free up members to attend the
NATRA hosted Noel Nichols charity event at Westpoint TN, Joe
Tichenor has generously moved his planned club ride out a week
and will now be held on November 22nd. Joe’s ride is well known
for having some incredible riding. Tight single track, fast sections,
challenges and plenty of fast field sections make for some exciting
riding. Please head over to http://mtdr.org for more information.
This is a members only ride but like always, you are welcome to
join the club at the event.
For information on the Nov 15th Noel Nichols Charity Event visit
the NATRA website. http://natra-westpoint.net/TopicsMain.php
This is not an MTDR club ride but is a worthy cause and everyone
is encouraged to attend and or donate.
RACES…
Part of riding dirt bikes is helping keep the places we ride, ridable.
Consider lending a helping hand a few times per year. You will
find that it is a fun and rewarding way to be an integral part of the
riding community. You can keep your eye on the MTDR forum
http://mtdr.org/forums for postings that ask for help. You may just
make some new friends in the process!
MSXC Round 3… Jamie Walker once again rode his Sherco to a
victory. After a 5th place start and a wreck early in the 1st lap, it
looked like Jaime was going to have to settle for a non podium
finish. It took some strategy, some confidence and some ignoring
of the pains in his back but Jamie was able to overcome it all to
work his way into 1st place and still find enough to finish with a
decent gap behind him. Not to be left out, Rob Berg Sr. also won
a top spot on the podium, winning his class as well!
Congratulation to both of you on well deserved wins! For more
