THE LIS(Z)T - Seattle Symphony
Seen & Heard @ the Seattle Symphony TH E L IS(Z) T On September 15 the Seattle Symphony celebrated the start of the 2013–2014 season with the annual Opening Night Concert & Gala. Under the direction of Music Director Ludovic Morlot, this year’s concert featured the Seattle Symphony Chorale and an extraordinary performance of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 by star pianist Lang Lang. The Gala continued at the legendary Fairmont Olympic Hotel with an elegant black-tie cocktail reception and dinner. The evening’s festivities were highlighted by a moving tribute celebrating the 15th anniversary of the commissioning of Robert Rauschenberg’s Echo by Gala honoree Virginia Wright, as well as a raisethe-paddle auction benefiting the Seattle Symphony’s education and community programs, which raised $267,000. The entire event raised a record $653,000 in support of the Seattle Symphony. 5 Special thanks to Opening Night Concert & Gala event chairs Kathy Fahlman Dewalt and Judith A.
