2014 PRIZE GIVING
HIGHLIGHTS 2014
• Won both Men’s & Women’s NHL for the first time in 23 years.
• Won the inaugural Ramesh Patel Shield for the nation’s best performing
region across all three men’s and women’s Hockey New Zealand high
performance tournaments (under-18, under-21, and Ford NHL).
• Successfully hosted U21 National tournament with our teams taking gold and
silver.
• Collier successfully defended their title winning the National tournament.
• Fielded 26 Representative teams with 15 finishing on the podium across age
group, regional and masters tournaments.
• Increase in junior registrations with over 200 junior teams competing.
•
We had 70 umpires and officials appointed to national tournaments.

LIFE MEMBERS – Neil McCorkindale
Neil McCorkindale has been an active umpire within the Auckland Hockey Association
for 37 years.
He began his umpiring career back in 1977 and achieved his Auckland ‘A’ Grade
moving through the grades umpiring Senior Reserve and on to the Senior Competition,
which we now know as Premier 1.
Neil has been Vice President of Auckland Umpires for 12 years and has served on the
Umpires Executive Committee for 16 years.
Neil has served on the AHA Executive Council for several years, and is the current Vice
President of AK Hockey.
Neil is Judicial Commissioner.
His support and commitment is unwavering and so valuable in all of these positions. His
passion of the game is ever apparent from support of his grandchildren’s games at
junior/college level, his many hours spent at the AK Hockey office every week, down to
the 5 or 6 games he officiates every week.
