ERASMUS STUDENT NETWORK (ESN)
The first few days in a new environment are always very difficult. You
have to find your bearings, meet new fellow students, locate rooms
and all sorts of necessary information. This necessary adaptation process takes time and energy. In order to facilitate contacts between
exchange students and local students, Šiauliai University has a mentors’ system – Erasmus Students Network (ESN). The main task of
ESN is to participate in the receiving of exchange students, including
mentorship, sightseeing and social gatherings. The Erasmus Student
Network (ESN) organises trips, excursions, parties and contributes to
the smooth integration of incoming students into local life.
Erasmus Student Network (ESN) will contribute in every way to make
your stay in Šiauliai a pleasant one http://www.su.lt/bylos/tarptautiniai_rysiai/esn_koreguotas.pdf. E-mail address for contact:

“Comfortable conditions allowed me to concentrate on my research
activity and to spend a lot of time in the library. I had an opportunity
to communicate with the Lithuanian students and students from
other countries. I was able to realise the research project and defend
my Master’s thesis. The stay at Šiauliai University gave me an opportunity to write work, to prepare articles for publication, to participate
in international actions, to develop communication skills, to improve
knowledge in the scientific sphere, to improve language competence, to see life, culture, and customs of the Lithuanian people and
to get acquainted with people from other countries.”
Ahmet Aslan, Turkey
“It was a great experience for me. People were so friendly and helpful
for me. The education system at Šiauliai University is well developed.
Dormitory was very clean and tidy. ESN (Erasmus Students Network)
is a perfect helper. They (ESN) helped me in all situations. There were
a lot of activities organised by ESN for us, I joined almost all of them
and they were great and enjoyable.”
Antonio Maia, Portugal
“I think everyone who took part in the unique cross cultural students’
experience in Šiauliai is very happy, because this was an amazing
and unforgettable experience. All students were diligent in studies,
cheerful at parties and curious in acquainting with the beautiful city
of Šiauliai, the country of Lithuania and their hospitable citizens. I
will never forget the moments I have lived there. I loved every single
day, every teacher was very good, and all the staff were very nice,
and they always helped when we needed. In conclusion, I can say
that here I found my motivation to study, and I would love to come
back again.”
Alina Gogitidze, Georgia
“I like people in Lithuania. They are a little bit similar to Georgians.
That is why it is very easy to communicate with them. Studies at
Šiauliai University are perfect. Life here is easy. City is not big, therefore you can walk everywhere. University buildings and students’
dormitory are located in the city centre. It is very convenient for students. You just enjoy life everyday here.”
