Marshy Point Nursery
Virtual Catalog
2012
arshy Point Nursery has been a family owned and operated business since its inception in 1973. The nursery
started as a hobby and quickly evolved into an idea and theory born from hard lessons and hard work. Our
founder, Harry Weiskittel always believed that no matter how good something might be, it could always be improved.
He took this ideology to hybridizing azaleas. For the past twenty years, Harry has been making crosses to create a superior
azalea for the garden.
Today, Marshy Point Nursery can offer many new cultivars that will excite your customers and have them coming back
for more. More of a superior product that cannot be found in the “garden” section of a warehouse superstore. We encourage you
to check out our website for updated information and pictures of our new varieties. You will also find pricing, plant and nursery
information there. Check us out!

GLENN DALE AZALEAS: The Glenn Dales are the creation of Ben Morrison. Though most of the 440 Glenn Dales were not released until after
World War II, the hybridization program started much earlier. The objectives of the Glenn Dale project were to introduce outstanding azaleas that
would be hardy for the Mid-Atlantic region and that would have varieties offering flowering over the expanse of the spring season.
Glenn Dale Azaleas in production: Ben Morrison, Day Spring, Martha Hitchcock.
GIRARD EVERGREEN AZALEAS: Hybridized and selected by Peter Girard of Geneve, Ohio, the Girard Azaleas were bred to withstand the colder
temperatures of the northern climates. We feel that this group includes some of the finest new azalea introductions. The Girards are blessed with
fine foliage, excellent plant habits and outstanding blooms.
Girard Evergreen Azaleas in production: Girard's Fuchsia, Girard's Pleasant White, Silver Sword.
HARRIS AZALEAS: The Harris hybrids have recently been made available by James Harris of Lawrenceville, Georgia. We feel that we have selected
the best of his varieties for the colder climates. The ones we are offering have exceptional characteristics in foliage, plant habit and flower.
Harris Azaleas in production:Ellie Harris, Midnight Flare.
LINWOOD HARDY AZALEAS: The Linwood Hardy Azaleas were developed by Albert Reid in Linwood, N.J. They are characterized by magnificent
blooms, good foliage and excellent plant habit.
Linwood Hardy Azaleas in production:Evelyn Hart, Hardy Gardenia, Opal.
NORTH TISBURY AZALEAS: Introduced by Polly Hill on Martha's Vineyard, N.Y.,the North Tisbury Azaleas offer a growth habit that is low and
spreading. Polly Hill's major objective was to grow azaleas that could be used as a ground cover. The Tisbury Azaleas are late flowering.
North Tisbury Azaleas in production: Joseph Hill, Michael Hill, Pink Pancake, Wintergreen, Yuka.
ROBIN HILL AZALEAS: The creation of Robert Gartrell of Wycoff, N.J., the Robin Hill Azaleas are the result of a massive hybridization program to
provide the large beautiful and showy flowers of the Japanese Satsuki Azaleas on plants that would offer greater hardiness. Most of the Robin Hills
are low growing, though some are spreading and other varieties are mounding. They are characterized by magnificent blooms, some to 4" in width,
and many have an extended blooming season because all buds do not open at the same time.
Robin Hill Azaleas in production: Betty Anne Voss, Conversation Piece, Dorothy Hayden, Hilda Niblett, Lady Robin, Laura Morland, Nancy
of Robinhill, Olga Niblett, Robin Hill Gillie, Sir Robert, Whitehead.
SCHROEDER AZALEAS: Introduced by Dr. H. R. Schroeder of Holly Hills Nursery, Evansville, Indiana. These azaleas feature some beautiful flowers, very nice foliage and hardiness not usually found in evergreen azaleas.
Schroeder Azaleas in production: Dr. H.R. Schroeder, Eliza Hyatt, George Hyatt, Moby Dick, Mrs. Mary Schroeder, Mrs. Nancy Dippel,
Susan Pool.
