His son Daniel, 7, was killed in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary school on December 14th, 2012. He has since dedicated his life to preventing other families from having to go through the pain of losing a loved one to senseless gun violence. Daniel was always brimming with compassion and kindness, often bringing extra snacks to share at lunch, moving worms off the driveway after a rainstorm, and checking on students who were working alone in class. Because of this, SHP's program "No One Eats Alone" holds a place very dear to his heart. No One Eats Alone combats social isolation by ensuring that every child has someone to sit with at lunch or play with at recess. Youth who feel isolated have been shown to sometimes turn to violence against themselves or others. This program seeks to promote social inclusion to prevent school violence and safe, inclusive community for all students. Morning Sessions 10:30-11:45 A.
