The 12th Annual West Texas Legislative Summit (Aug. 4-5) was a huge success, focusing on environmental regulations the first day, and exploring many facets of transportation on the second day. Congressman Mike Conaway, State Senator Charles Perry and San Jeff DeLoach Chairman of the Board Angelo State Representative Drew Darby and their staff helped plan and execute several of the panels. The regional event included many of the finest state and federal experts in their fields. Under environmental regulations, the Chairman of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and representatives of the Texas Railroad Commission, Apache Corporation, TxDOT, and Jackson Walker LLC highlighted issues and offered solutions, with a timely proposal from the EPA eliciting concern among attendees and many speakers alike. The transportation speakers and programs included the Executive Director and San Angelo District Engineer from TxDOT, the Chairman of the Texas Transportation Commission, Proposition 7 author State Senator Nichols, the Federal Highway Administration, and representatives of the Texas Transportation Institute, Texas Pacifico Railroad, Ports-to-Plains Alliance and others. You may review videos of these timely sessions by clicking on the West Texas Legislative Summit box on the Chamber’s webpage, www.sanangelo.org.
