in collaboration with the Accessibility Division of
ARGOS-Services, part of AAALl*) the aim being
to provide a harmonious and contrasting solution
that meets the needs of the market.
Going beyond aspects of comfort, aesthetics or
even uniqueness, with this new range Gerflor
wanted to respond to the principle of "access to
all for all", as referred to in the law of 11 February
2005 promoting equal rights and opportunities,
participation and citizenship for disabled people...
Consideration of levels of contrast in building
environments is critical in terms of ensuring that
guiding, locating, safety and visibility requirements
are met in everything relating to movement by
persons with visual and cognitive impairment, as
well as meeting the needs of elderly people, and
more broadly, of all of us ...
This new range of Gerflor stair coverings, developed under the expert guidance of our ARGOSServices "Accessibility" team, is an appropriate
and regulatory solution for all public premises, as
well as for residential buildings."

Use of contrasting colours as decor and design
elements also provides a degree of safety, making it
easier to locate obstacles and hazards, room layout
and pathways. Contrasting colours help us move
around and read spaces, both unknown and familiar,

BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment
Method) is the oldest British Standard and one of the most used worldwide.
It’s a standard reference in term of sustainable construction (with LEED and HQE).
It can easily be adapted to local regulation our floorings contribute to that building certification due to:
- LCA (Life Cycle Analysis), including the choice of safe raw materials
- VOC emissions: low formaldehyde level, our floorings comply with the Appendix ZA4 of the European Standard
