An illustrated guide the ACVP Certifying Examination
(Phase 2) held in Tampa, Florida at the examination center
of the American Board of Pathology (ABP)
After arrival,
take a short
shuttle ride to
the terminal.
There is a courtesy shuttle for guests of the InterContinental Hotel.
Courtesy shuttle telephones are located in the baggage claim area at
Tampa International Airport, or you may call the hotel directly at (813)
286-4400. Advise the hotel operator of your exit door for pick up
(Blue #1, Blue #2, Red #1, or Red #2). Proceed to the pickup area. The Airport Shuttle Van is white
with the InterContinental Tampa
sign on the door. The Airport
Shuttle Van departs from the
hotel on each half hour. The
hours of operation are 5:00 am
to 1:00 am.
The InterContinental Hotel
and the ABP examination
center are located at 4830
West Kennedy Boulevard,
One Urban Centre, Tampa.
That is about 5 miles or 2
blinks of an eye from the
airport.
The Intercontinental
hotel, the ABP
examination center and
various restaurants are
all located in the same
building.
Next day, bright and early, walk
over to the examination center.
The center has Nikon
Alphaphot 2 microscopes with
10x widefield oculars, 4x, 10x,
40x, 100x oil immersion
objectives, non-removable
mechanical stages, abbe
condensers, and built-in light
source. You can bring your
own microscope with spare
bulb, and oil.
The only personal items
permitted at the workstations
are jackets or sweaters,
eyeglasses, microscopes, and
ancillary microscope tools
(e.g., polarizing lenses). No
other personal items are
permitted in the
workstations.
Do not bring communication devices, including pagers and cell phones,
personal organizers, calculators, books, notes, pens/pencils or papers to the
examination center. A pen will be provided for you. Food (including candy
and gum) and drinks are not permitted at workstations. However, drinks,
candy, and medications may be stored in the monitored storage area, and
access to this area is available with proctor notification. A drinking fountain
is available in the hall. Smoking is not permitted in the building.
