VML
As one of the largest insurers of local governmental entities in
Virginia, VML Insurance Programs (VMLIP) has a vested interest
INSURANCE PROGRAMS
Virginia’s Local Government Specialists™
in saving the lives of our insured employer drivers, who live and
work in the communities they serve. VMLIP has trained more than
22,000 drivers in the last four years using defensive driving products from the National Safety Council and others.
Prior to implementing the fleet safety campaign, VMLIP had an average loss ratio of 86
percent for auto liability losses alone, not accounting for additional losses from workers’
compensation or auto physical damages. In the last three years since the campaign began,
the pool’s average automobile liability loss ratio has dropped to 48 percent.
“ Certification as a defensive driving course instructor gives our trainers the confidence to deliver
accurate, up-to-date information in a manner that is meaningful to their students.”
