Apple Cider Vinegar
Most people don’t know how wonderful
vinegar can be for some populations. Vinegar
has been shown to support a healthy heart and soothe sore muscles after
a workout. There is also evidence that taking 1 tablespoon before a meal
may lower blood sugars after the meal in those with diabetes.

Racconto 100% Whole Wheat Pasta
Racconto whole wheat pasta is a whole-grain item our dietitians love!
It’s packed full of fiber with 6 grams per 2 oz. serving. That serving
size also has 7 grams of protein, the same amount you would find in an ounce of
meat! The two simple ingredients in this pasta are 100% hard amber drum whole
wheat and water. That’s it! Portion control is still important as it is with any food, but
if you’re cooking up pasta for dinner, this is the one to eat.
Q: How do I know which yogurt to buy?
A:
Don’t they put a lot of sugar in yogurt?
Is it really even good for you?
Knowing what item to select with so many brands and types
on the shelves these days can be challenging. There are many
different types of yogurt to choose from: regular, greek, low-fat,
or low-sugar − it can make choosing a daunting task for consumers. Our advice is to try to
look past the marketing and health claims. Greek yogurt and regular yogurt have minimal
differences as far as calories and fat. Greek yogurt has been strained more times and will
have a thicker texture and be slightly higher in protein than regular. It makes it easy to avoid
additives if you buy plain yogurt and add your own fruit. Sweetening with honey or adding
some peanut butter puts you in control of what is being added to your creamy breakfast
food or midday snack.
One of the great health benefits of yogurt is the live cultures − that’s right, bacteria that
is added. Strains like Streptococcus, Thermophilus, and Lactobacillus, have great health
benefits and are found in a number of yogurts. The key to locating if a yogurt contains this
good bacteria is checking the ingredients label! These strains will be listed as ingredients
in the product and can help direct you to some yogurts with added health benefits. These
bacteria are also present in other products that Price Cutter carries, such as Good Belly
Probiotic Juice, Go Live Probiotic & Prebiotic water, Kefir cultured milk smoothies, and
Organic Raw Kombucha drinks.
