IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE HIKE
• P
articipation: There is no charge for taking part in the hike, attending the musical
performances or using the shuttle bus,
but for organisational reasons please
register in advance!
•Route characteristics: The route is 13
km long. The ascent has a difference
in altitude of 173 m, the descent 1,267
m. So a large part of the hike is going
downhill! This stage takes place in
high alpine terrain, which is sometimes
steep, but there are no major technical
difficulties (e.g. exposed sections). The
forecast walking time (including breaks)
is around 6 ½ hours. Detailed information
on this stage: www.alpe-adria-trail.com/
de/etappen
•Physical requirements: The hike demands appropriate physical condition
and fitness, and a certain surefootedness. Walkers should be used to longer
downhill walks.
•Equipment: Suitable hiking equipment
is essential (good footwear, functional
clothing, rain/sun protection, as applicable trekking poles).
•Weather on the day of the event: The
event will take place whatever the weather. Exception: long-term low pressure
zone with persistent/strong rain (will be
communicated in good time via website
and media). No replacement event is
planned.
•Provisions: Hikers are recommended
to bring their own food with them for
the hike. A break of around 1 hour is
planned on the Sattelalm. Here food
and drink can be purchased from the
Briccius cheese dairy.
•Guides: Natur-Aktiv guides and mountain
rescue will be involved. The route is
signposted, as is the entire Alpe-AdriaTrail.
•Getting here & return transfer: Hikers
should travel to Heiligenblut individually
with their own car (free parking available
in the underground car park in Heiligenblut) or using the bus shuttle from Mallnitz
station (from 08:05). Prior reservation is
required for the bus shuttle from Mallnitz
to Heiligenblut by e-mail to office@heiligenblut.at or on tel. +43 4824 2700-20!
•Waste prevention: Please do not throw
any waste away. There are waste disposal
facilities in some places along the route.
Otherwise please take any packaging
back home with you or dispose of it at
your destination.
Shuttle buses for participants from Heiligenblut to the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe
will be available free of charge for all
participants from 09:00. A free return
transfer will be available from 17:00 for
everyone who has travelled to Mallnitz by
train (see reverse for train departures).
•Liability: The organiser is unable to
accept any liability for accidents and
other damages. Children under the age
of 12 are only permitted to participate
when accompanied by adults.
•Organiser: The official organiser of
this hike is Kärnten Werbung GmbH in
cooperation with the tourist association
of Heiligenblut am Grossglockner.
