It is such a precious time because it centers on family and friends gathering around the dinner table to make sweet new memories. It’s a time to reunite, catch up with loved ones and express gratitude for blessings received. Although we enjoy the tender turkey, sweet potatoes and pumpkin pies, Thanksgiving is so much more than the meal. It is truly a time to give thanks and share in the simple joys of love and laughter. Family traditions are very important to the WindsorMeade family. As the years continue to pass, new family members will move to this special place we call HOME. As we plan our own Community celebrations, let us be sure to reach out and invite others to join us in making a special WindsorMeade Thanksgiving memory. Happy Thanksgiving to All! WindsorMeade University Holly Hunt, Lifestyles Coordinator Navigate, WindsorMeade’s Memory Support group (led by Lifestyle Coordinator, Holly Hunt) joined the Caregiver’s Support Group, (led by WindsorMeade Chaplain, Krista Manuel) on a trip to Pumpkinville, in Norge. This small family farm is a seasonal treasure full of pumpkins, arts and crafts and fall décor. Residents were able to soak up some much needed sunshine, pick their own pumpkin, and enjoy the festive autumn atmosphere. Before our departure, I realized that one of the residents had not selected a pumpkin. I offered to take the resident through the pumpkin patch. I showed him a variegated pumpkin and he shook his head no. Then I showed him a beautiful white pumpkin. He shook his head no again and muttered, “Traditional.” I asked him if he wanted a small, medium or large pumpkin. He quickly said that he wanted a small pumpkin so I helped him find the perfect traditional orange pumpkin. When I handed him the pumpkin, he grinned from ear to ear. Needless to say, he was happy with his pumpkin and I was delighted to see his reaction. This outing had a great impact on all who attended!
