A Citysurfing project responds to a need of general strategic interest for an area or an ecosystem, linked directly with the waterway, with activity in boats and/or generating a boating activity during its construction, operation and life. Experts passionate about boats and rivers, boat operators and industrialists specialised in the river and port sector design solutions for responding to needs. The solution comes from the river and is built using the solutions proposed by rivers and ports in terms of logistics, industrialisation and technical know-how. The Seine Valley, with its various zones and expertise, is in the heart of the process of design, implementation, delivery and development. 15 The dynamics of the Citysurfing Cluster Christophe Gallineau, founder and CEO of Citysurfing and Gérard Ronzatti, architect and founder of Seine Design, have been specialised in the river and port sector for more than 30 years and run the Citysurfing cluster. This is an organisation and action method suited to the features of river and port structures to simplify the process of initiatives leading to the creation of companies, jobs and new services was devised by Citysurfing in collaboration with the naval architecture and engineering practice Seine Design. It is for mastering the organisation of all the stages of implementation of a response to a requirement. The ‘Eco-Friendly Floating Structures®’ (E2FS) method of organisation and action ensures the choice of the best talents to respond to the issues of economic models specific to naval architecture and the creation of new floating units—motorised or not: > to invent the river tourism of the future, > to make accessible the opportunity to be on the water and sail in the city, > to propose innovations and new alternatives to contribute to well-being in cities and to the development of river and port navigation. Seine Design and Citysurfing incarnate and own the intellectual property rights of ‘Smart Floating Solutions®’ and the legitimacy and expertise of the method of E2FS ‘Eco-Friendly Floating Structures®’ organisation and actions. They manage a cluster of talent that is passionate about the river and port sector (artists, financiers, industrialists, operators, legal specialists, entrepreneurs, citizens). This community operates with agility and can mobilise the best skills at the right moment and at the right price to ensure an organisation at the service of extremely rapid, precise and high-quality action. Christophe Gallineau and Gérard Ronzatti have experience of numerous initiatives and actions in the governance and development of activities and businesses in the river and port sector, such as the recent creation of the first Floating Hotel in Paris, the first panoramic restaurant boat in New York, the first ‘Guinguette’ café at Port des Invalides, the first testing of public river transport on the Seine, etc. 17 The dynamics of the Citysurfing Cluster All these operations performed by Citysurfing and Seine Design have been performed: >● using the ‘project team’ approach in collaboration with elected officials, industrialists, investors, operators, banks and port and regulatory authorities; > via local execution sector dynamics using the trades know-how of the places concerned (Paris, New York, Dubai, London) by federating the best talent— small local businesses—leading to the creation of sustainable jobs in running the activities; >● and are now databases and experience to be shared and passed on to meet requirements. For centuries, rivers were a key to life! Most cities are built around a lake, on the coast or along a river: London and the Thames, Paris and the Seine, Lyon and the Rhône, Bordeaux and the Garonne, etc. Water was a key to life! Water for drinking, for industry, for cleaning, for growing crops and for bathing. Cities took shape and developed around water. Then cities abandoned their rivers and have turned their backs to them for half a century. Quays became industrial areas and roads were made along the banks. Waterways served for the transport of goods. Now, for the last 10 or 20 years cities have been rediscovering their banks and taking over theses natural resources, using and protecting them. We turn roads into beaches, we improve industrial dockland and make it a smart area, and we live on the water once again through tourism or waterside activities. Life takes over again and the city becomes recentred on its water, its heart, with more and more projects emerging to make rivers places for living and for leisure. ‘Smart Floating Solutions®’ is Christophe Gallineau and Gérard Ronzatti’s idea: use rivers, banks and ports in new architecture and turnkey floating infrastructure to match the issues of the great cities of the world in questions of development, liveliness and entertainment and navigation activities. Their ambition is green growth. 19 Rethink the way we live, entertain, travel and have fun In short, reinvent the life of rivers with Smart Cities programmes, vectors of fluidity, progress, attractiveness, well-being and knowing how to live together. Entrepreneurial dynamics was this initiated by Christophe Gallineau in mid-2013 in collaboration with Gérard Ronzatti, architect and founder of Seine Design, a specialist in naval architecture and floating engineering. Christophe Gallineau set up the company Citysurfing in summer 2013 to promote ‘Smart Floating Solutions®’, a pure product of Parisian know-how in river and port tourism: PARIS, the world leader in river and port tourism. ‘Smart Floating Solutions®’ apply to all towns crossed by a river or sited in a bay —this means more than half of the cities with a population of more than 500,000. For elected politicians, ‘Smart Floating Solutions®’ have the advantage of shifting immediately operational levers to support the economic, social, industrial and cultural activities of an area. The benefits at the scale of a territory: > creating enthusiasm and collective initiatives > generating smiles, emotions and social bonding > accelerating influence and attractiveness. 21 Contact : Christophe Gallineau Tel.: +33 (0)6 83 13 93 84 E-mail : gallineauchristophe@yahoo.fr www.citysurfing.fr Design and production: Stardust Conseil & Communication
