Who is a Brother?
All Christians are called to share in the
brotherhood of Jesus, in them, Jesus continues
to walk this earth. In response to this call, some
men assume the title Brother. A Religious
Brother is called to a vowed life of prayer,
community, and ministry and not be a priest.
The core elements of a Brother’s life are prayer,
community, the vows of poverty, chastity and
obedience, and ministry. Some Brothers belong
to communities comprised of only Brothers;
others share communities with religious priests
and seminarians, e.g., Dominicans, Franciscans,
Glenmary, Marianists, based on its charism. In
most religious communities of men, one may
choose to be a brother or a priest. Brother Leo
Kirby writes “Of all the paths to take in the
Church it’s the one least traveled upon and to a
Brother
that
makes
all
the

General Information
Baptisms—The Sacrament of Baptism takes place
during Mass or on the second Sunday of the month
at Noon at SSPP. If you would like your child
Baptized at OLSH, please call the parish office to
make arrangements. It is necessary to attend a
Preparation Class prior to Baptism with parents
and Godparents. Your parish office will be able to
help you schedule your class and the Baptism.
Anointing the Sick— If you or a family member
would like to receive the Sacrament of the Sick,
please contact your parish office. In the event the
office is closed, please call the Emergency Contact
number listed.
Parish Registration—Please call your parish
office to receive registrations forms.
RCIA—For those interested in becoming Catholic,
our RCIA program will begin in September.
Further information will be provided in the
following months.
Confessions—Every Saturday from 2:00—
2:45pm at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, or call your
parish office for an appointment with a priest.
Sacrament of Matrimony
All marriage preparation occurs with our
pastor. Please call the parish office to schedule
an appointment. Typically the church is
reserved a year in advance.

The Ray Rusche Oxford Physical Therapy Centers
Running Scared 5k and Kids Fun Run is being held on
Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015.
Kids Fun Run is 1-2:30pm with HalloweenFest directly following. We always have lots of fun
entertainment for the children including food, drinks, face painting, a hayride, and a costume contest.
All of this for only $5.
The Running Scared 5k is at 6pm. It’s a flat, fast course through the graveyard, then back to the
Party! The Post-race party follows directly from 6:30 – 10pm inside and outside of Haffey Fieldhouse
in Reading.
There will be live music from Ooh La La and the Greasers; in the beer garden, plenty of delicious
food and drinks from our sponsors; a costume contest and lots of door prizes. It is one of the most fun
races and party in the Tri-State area! Join the fun while raising money for a great cause—Youth
Education!
