Al The Adoration Chapel at St. William: To implement a new policy, parishioners willing to spend time with the Blessed Sacrament will need to stop in the Rectory and sign a form. Rectory hours: 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Upcoming Canonization of Mother Teresa The canonization will be held on September 4, 2016 in Rome during the Sunday Mass celebrated as part of the Jubilee for workers and volunteers of mercy. It is providential that the approved miracle that occurred in Santos, Brazil in 2008 through the intercession of Blessed Teresa, was brought to the attention of the Postulation only in late 2013 and received approval in December 2015. Thus Mother Teresa’s canonization becomes a major event of the Jubilee of Mercy. Even in her lifetime, Mother Teresa was an icon of God’s tender mercy, radiating the light of God’s love to so many through the works of mercy, both material and spiritual. From heaven she continues to fulfil her mission as she “lights the light of those in darkness on earth.” With her canonization, the Church presents her as a model and intercessor of those who, like her, “long to light the fire of love and peace throughout the world.” She can be taken as a patron saint especially for those who are most in need of God’s mercy. By her example and through her intercession, may Mother Teresa inspire many to give their ‘hearts to love and their hands to serve’, starting with those closest to them. May we all continue to live and deepen our awareness of being in need of mercy and our willingness to extend mercy in our communities, in our families and in our service of the poor. With much gratitude let us pray, Blessed ~ and future Saint ~ Teresa, pray for us! Their relationship in Christian faith and life, however, has fallen somewhat out of favor in the past generation, as certain prescribed Church rules and regulations have been reduced and relaxed. These rules were often referred to as “disciplines.” We are mistaken, however, to think that it no longer takes discipline to follow Christ. The Letter to the Hebrews assures us of that today. Our discipline is more like that of an athlete pursuing a victory or a personal best, or a musician striving for a concert career or to master a new piece of music. This discipline comes from desire, not from regulations. It was the desire to do the will of God that led Jesus on the path to his cross. It is that same desire he encourages in us today: to strive to enter through the narrow gate, to find ourselves in the kingdom with a surprising assortment of people who are there not because of mere observation of rules, but out of a genuine desire to recline at the table of the heavenly banquet. Father Judge High School DOMINGO VIGESIMO PRIMERO School Opening Information “ESFUERCENSE EN ENTRAR POR LA PUERTA ESTRECHA.” The first day of class schedule is now available for students attending Father Judge High School in the Fall. Please call the school for further information 215.338.9494.
