This event will feature athletes from the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. As part of this National Championship event, Roller Ski athletes in Fox River Grove will practice on local roads on Friday from 10–11am and the Race will be held Saturday afternoon from approximately 4–5pm. The race course consists of the same route as the annual May bike race plus a section of Ski Hill Road in front of the Norge Ski Club. On the reverse of this letter is a map of the race course and approximate race times. For the safety of racers and residents, no parking will be allowed on the streets along the race course from 8Noon on Friday, September 30th and 2-6 pm on Saturday, October 1st. Cars may proceed cautiously along the course during Friday’s practice but will be banned during Saturday’s race. Those who live along the race course are kindly asked to leave your cars in your garage or driveway. As with the bike races, 1 short air horn blast will announce that Saturday’s race will start in 5 min. 2 short blasts will occur 1 min the race. 3 short blasts will announce the start of a race. 4 long air horn blasts signal the race's end. On Saturday, Police Officers, McHenry County Emergency Management, and Norge Volunteers will be stationed on all corners to ensure that no cars are on the street during the race and to remove barricades when the race ends to allow traffic to resume. Please follow the race marshals’ instructions. Emergency vehicles will have immediate access to all locations during the race. We understand that this restricted vehicle access may cause some inconvenience, but trust that you understand the need for safety and hope you plan to enjoy the race day festivities. This National Championship roller ski race will be exciting for our residents and their guests, generate business for local merchants, and showcase our community to the region as a wonderful place to live!
