Colgate Institutional Advancement:
Annual Giving Team Outreach Day
On Monday, June 27, the Division of Institutional Advancement was led by
the annual giving team in a full day of outreach to alumni, seeking year
end gifts to the Colgate Fund as part of the Pass the Torch Initiative. The
day started with a kick-off breakfast, and included prize giveaways, a staff
lunch, classic Colgate songs, and awards to star employees of the day.
Annual giving is tasked with increasing Colgate's Alumni Giving Rate and
the dollars raised for the Colgate Fund. This year, with a goal of 13,513
alumni donors, annual giving has been working hard to inspire gifts to Colgate.
The Colgate Fund, formerly known as the Unrestricted
Annual Fund, augments income from the university’s
endowment and underwrites countless campus initiatives,
including the financial aid budget and academic programs.
Together, IA staff reached out to over 3000 alumni and
asked them to support the Colgate Fund. Alumni donors
were also acknowledged by staff members who wrote
"thank you" post cards.
Thank you to the entire Colgate employee community
for your support of Colgate students through your work
and by giving to the Colgate Fund.

Summer Celebrations!
Employee Events
The end of the academic year and beginning of summer bring
many opportunities to celebrate our employees!
On June 16, we celebrated Colgate staff members who
had reached their 5 or 10 year milestones during the year. A
casual breakfast reception was held in the Ho Science Atrium,
with honorees, supervisors, vice presidents and the interim
president, Jill Harsin in attendance. Employees were recognized
for their service and presented with a gift certificate to the
bookstore.
That evening, Colgate’s longest-serving employees - those
who have reached 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and, 40 years of
service – were honored at the 50th annual Service Awards
Dinner. Honorees, past honorees (including retirees),
supervisors, VP’s and Interim President Harsin enjoyed a
relaxing evening with brief presentations, provided by Lori
Chlad, associate vice president for human resources, to
honor and celebrate some of the university’s most loyal
employees.
We hope everyone has the opportunity to take time to
relax over the summer- the celebratory arrival of the Class
of 2020 will be here soon! Congratulations!

Colgate’s
Boilermaker
Corporate Cup
Team
This is a great way to represent Colgate in the
community and make new friends as well!
Attention Boilermaker Runners!
Are you interested in joining a Colgate University employee team to
compete in the 2016 Boilermaker 15k Corporate Cup?
Every July, over 14,000 runners participate in the Utica Boilermaker
15k run. Some of those runners are representing their workplace by
participating in the Corporate Cup. Colgate University fielded a co-ed
running team last year showing our Colgate pride over the 9.3 mile
course.
Participation is simple. If you are a Colgate employee or retiree
(part-time employees must work 20 hours per week) and are already
registered for the Boilermaker 15k (sorry, there is no Corporate Cup
for 5k runners) and want to be part of Colgate’s team, just submit
your name and email address to Drew Porter (aporter@colgate.edu).
There is no obligation to run as a group on race day as many runners
may already be planning to run with a friend or family member. And,
there are no additional fees! Just let us know you are interested and
you are in!
July 10, 2016
Leading up to the race, we plan to create an email group to share tips
on training, arrange car pools to the packet pickup or to the event
itself, perhaps even some group runs. The Corporate Cup standings
count the two fastest male times and two fastest female times plus the
next fastest time (male or female) toward the team results. We are
looking for maximum participation so there is no need to worry about
how fast or slow you run.
This is a great way to represent Colgate University in the community
and make new friends as well. Join us at one of the most fun and
challenging events of the summer!
