Season of Giving - Portland Federal Credit Union
7 President’s Message 6 Community Events Somethin’s Cookin’ in Lowell & Ionia It is hard to believe that we are into October but here we are. You, our members, have been very loyal in using our loan programs for your borrowing needs which has had a tremendous effect on the income. Income is up from 2013 and loans are growing at record levels. We appreciate that you trust us for your financial needs, without your continued trust and support we would not be having the success that we are. It is our goal to maintain current products and services for you when financially feasible. It is amazing to me what a lot of the new services cost but I also know it is a cost of doing business to keep our products and services at the level we want to provide. We have several changes on the horizon. We will be offering a new online banking program and a software upgrade for member services and loans to help improve the quality of service for you. There will also be a new pay to pay program (P2P) that will be part of the new online banking as well as a personal financial manager (PFM) to help with budgeting and record keeping. The last quarter of the year will be a fun and exciting time for us at the credit union as we wrap up 2014 and begin looking at the expectations for 2015. It is also a busy time for everyone as we go into the holiday season and all the anticipation of the events to come. Please take the time to remember why we have the season and to enjoy time with your family and friends. Relax and enjoy these times because the memories will last forever. Everyone that enjoys a good time and the great taste of chili needs to mark their calendars and come out to support PFCU at these chili cookoffs: • Lowell’s Chili Madness - downtown Lowell, Saturday, October 11th - plus live music from 2:00-6:00 pm • Ionia’s Chili Dawg Challenge - main street Ionia, Thursday, Oct. 23rd - 2:00-8:00 pm Wealth Management For most retirees, Social Security replaces a substantial portion of pre-retirement income. Due to limited resources in explaining and exploring Social Security options, many retirees do not fully understand the strategies available to maximize their benefits. Additionally, once an individual elects to start receiving Social Security benefits they are permanently locked into the benefit option they selected. If you have not started your Social Security benefits yet and are evaluating your options, schedule a complimentary appointment with our Wealth Management Advisor. With proper planning you have potential to increase your lifetime distributions. Nicholas VanGeest PFCU Wealth Management Ext. 1189 Securities offered through First Heartland Capital, Inc.
