Welcome to the Spring/Summer 2015 programme for getset services in Sedgemoor. Here you can find details of the groups we run, community-run groups, events and Health groups. Unless otherwise stated, groups are for parents and carers with children aged 0-5 years. We hope you will find something of interest for you and your family in this programme. Our getset services groups are run by the Family Support team and sometimes by volunteers. The getset services groups take place across Sedgemoor at venues including Children’s Centres, community centres, libraries, village halls, and the Travelling Children’s Centre. Ask a member of the getset services team for more information. Health groups are run by Health professionals, such as Health Visitors, Midwives or Community Nursery Nurses. Members of the getset services Family Support team may also attend these groups to offer help and advice to parents. Health groups are free of charge. For more information please see our pages on Health-run groups. Community groups are run by other providers and include toddler groups, community-run information & advice groups, volunteer-led and self-led groups, job clubs and baby cafés. Always contact the providers of these groups before you leave home, to make sure that the group is running. Sydenham Children’s Centre getset Courses We offer a range of courses for you and your family, including those listed below. Booking is essential for all courses. Infant Massage This 4-week course is led by our trained staff and can aid relaxation and help you bond with your baby. Massage can also give relief from wind, colic and constipation. Courses take place at various venues across Sedgemoor and cost £4.00. For babies 8 weeks - 6 months. Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme) Triple P is a free 5-week course that can help you develop new parenting skills and to better understand your child’s behaviour. Parents who have completed this course tell us that it has had a real benefit for them and their family. Courses run at venues across Sedgemoor. Jelly Beans/Jelly Tots Is your child now too old for our Jelly Babies group? We will be running an on-demand Jelly Beans/Tots course for children aged over 12 months at different venues across the area. If you are interested in a structured group offering singing and play along with discussions on different aspects of child development, contact our Bookings Hotline to add your details to our waiting list. Free. First Aid We offer practical First Aid training to benefit you and your family. Learn how to deal with accidents and how to keep your family safe. Contact the Bookings Hotline with your details and we will contact you when we are arranging the next course. getset Courses Playing Up This course can help you to manage your child’s tantrums and routines, and can also increase your knowledge of child development. The course is free and will be starting at Sydenham Children’s Centre in February 2015. Health & Well-being We are currently arranging a Health & Well-being course for families. Contact the Bookings Hotline to find out more details and to book your place on the course. Families Matter If you would like to get more out of family life, develop selfesteem and manage children’s behaviour, then this course could be for you.
