Mrs. Papa`s School Supply List
Mrs. Papa’s School Supply List 24 Ticonderoga Pencils: These last longer and sharpen better than other brands with less length of pencil eaten by the sharpener each time. 8 Elmer’s Glue Sticks: Around 8 depending on how they are packaged 5 Composition Notebooks - 1 Red, 1 Green, 1 Blue, 1 Yellow, 1 Kid’s Choice. If you can only find spiral notebooks that’s okay. We prefer the composition-type because the kids can’t rip the pages out. If you can only find composition notebooks with black and white covers just get 5 of those. 2 Highlighters – any color(s) 2 Packs of Crayola Colored pencils 24 pack or bigger. Expo Dry Eraser Markers - 6 pack or larger of the thin, low odor. A good pair of Scissors. 1 Ruler: The flexible ones are good. Wood or plastic is okay too. A good Pencil Sharpener with a shaving catcher. Please choose a good one. The $ 1 special usually breaks within the 1 st week or dulls within the first month. The kids use their sharpeners everyday. My two boys have had the one that looks like a lava lamp by Foohy/Papermate for five years and they both still work so those are pretty good. Staples usually has good ones, but please do not go crazy looking, just something that looks like it will make it through the year. Pencil Box: Pencil size please. The extra long and extra tall don’t fit in the desk. 5 2-Pocket Folders with prongs : 1 red, 1 yellow, 1 purple, 1 green, 1 kid’s choice. 1 Pack of Lined Notebook Paper 3 Colored Pens for Grading 1 deck of playing cards (for math practice) 1 pack of each: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division flashcards Please select one or two of the following items to contribute to our class: a ream of colored copy paper ( any bright color ) , tissues, Ziploc storage bags gallon, snack or sandwich size, tissue paper, trinkets or small treats for the classroom store. The supplies above make for a positive day, with smooth transitions, successful projects/group work, and ready students. I ask for certain colors because it eases transitions and search time. I suggest Ticonderoga and Crayola brands because the other brands don’t last as well and the quality isn’t the same. When we sharpen regular or colored pencils of other brands they lose at least an inch or two of length per sharpen and sometimes we have to re-sharpen because the lead just falls out. I have had the benefit of seeing these products in action for 180 days x 27 kids x 15 years. I’m telling you this because I want you to understand why I am asking for a more expensive product than some of the others available. I also don’t want you to waste your money on products that you may or may not realize don’t last, break, or run out quicker.
