Special Admission
Social Security Number Policy
In accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974 and Indiana P122 of 1977,
students or applicants are advised that the requested disclosure of
their Social Security Number is voluntary. The student has the right to
refuse disclosure of this number or request its removal from records. A
special ten-digit student ID number will then be assigned for use with
the university. The Social Security Number will be used to identify the
students’ permanent records such as transcript, registration, grade
reports, transcript requests, as an identifier for financial aid programs,
and to determine eligibility, certify school attendance, and report
student status. The student’s Social Security Number is not disclosed
to individuals or agencies outside IU except in accordance with the
IU Policy on Release of Student Information. Please note that if you
receive any form of federal aid or several forms of state aid, you will be
required to provide your Social Security Number so that your aid may be
processed.

and have earned a high school diploma or GED may apply for admission as a non-degree student and can remain in this classification for
a maximum of 12 credit hours. Applicants must submit the regular
application for admission and the nonrefundable $35 application fee.
Non-degree-seeking applicants to IU East may also be admitted to one
of several special categories:
Graduate Non-Degree: Applicants who have previously completed a
bachelor’s degree may apply for admission as a graduate non-degree

Criminal Activity Disclosure Policy
IU East is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all
members of the university community. As part of this commitment, the
university requires applicants who have been convicted of any felony or
a misdemeanor such as simple battery or other convictions for behavior
that resulted in injury to a person(s) or personal property to disclose
this information as a mandatory step in the application process. A
previous conviction or previous conduct does not automatically bar
admission to the university but does require review.
High School: Applicants who are currently in high school and who

high school transcript, and written permission from their high school

for which they are eligible or selected.
