PRISM AWARDS
Prestigious Results In Sales and Marketing
Dear BAGB Members and Guests:
Welcome to the 2009 PRISM Awards. Tonight we are here to celebrate the best of the best in building, design, and
marketing throughout the Builders Association of Greater Boston and beyond.
The building industry has had its shares of ups and downs (to say the least) over the past many months. You would never
know it by the number of entries (261) we received in 2009 and by the number of members (both new and existing) who
submitted projects. The support shown by the members of this organization during this time has truly been incredible.
The caliber of those projects that were entered, with their stunning mix of creativity, imagination and professionalism as
well as the number of entries we received is truly reflected in this.
An event like this could never happen without the hard work and dedication from the PRISM Committee. Many, many,
long hours are spent working on this after the workday has come to an end, and I thank you for your endless time and
constant support.
On behalf of the Sales and Marketing Council and the PRISM Committee of the Builders Association of Greater Boston,
I extend my congratulations to all of those who were awarded tonight for outstanding achievements and thank you to all
who took the time to participate.
Sincerely,
Debra G. Burke
Chairman 2009 PRISM Committee
Dear PRISM Awards Attendees,
Thank you for joining us this evening as we celebrate the 2009 PRISM Awards There’s No Business Like HOME
Business. What a perfect theme for this year’s awards program.
I want to thank the members of the 2009 PRISM Awards committee for their vision and for their commitment to
producing this evening’s outstanding gala and celebration. I think you will agree that they did an exceptional job. I also
want to thank the BAGB Staff for their enthusiasm and hard work and our judges for selecting the winners from a very
competitive field of entries.
But most of all I want to thank all of you who chose to compete and participate. In doing so you once again provided
BAGB with an opportunity to showcase our members’ professionalism, outstanding projects, and individual achievements
in sales, project management and community service. Congratulations to all of you who have entered.
Please share this Program Book with your peers, employees, customers and friends as an example of the commitment to
excellence in residential construction that we all make as members of BAGB.
Sincerely,
Craig Meyer
2009 BAGB President

Pete Maruca – Orion General Contractors, a native of Princeton, New
Jersey, Peter J. Maruca graduated cum laude from Princeton University in
1987 with a degree in Art and Architectural History and a minor in American
Studies. His senior thesis focusing on the rise of Tudor Revival architecture
in the United States in the last quarter of the 19th century won the Grace
May Tilton senior thesis prize. Rather than pursuing an academic career, he
opted for hands-on experience in architecture and carpentry, working for
10 years with some of the premier residential builders and remodelers in
Boston, San Francisco and Philadelphia.
In 1997, he founded Orion General Contractors Incorporated, a boutique
construction firm dedicated to providing an exceptional level of craftsmanship
and service. Projects range from small jobs to multi-million dollar additions,
alterations and new construction. Pete’s dedication to details (and his
mantra to visit “every job every day”) has resulted in the highest level of both
craftsmanship and service. Orion has received numerous awards, including
three Lower Merion Township preservation awards, two regional Home
Builder’s Association of America “Pyramid Awards” and a national “Best of
the Best” award for the best whole house green remodel in 2008.
Pete currently sits on the boards of the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald
House and the William Trent House in Trenton, New Jersey (c. 1719), a
house museum that his maternal grandfather restored under a WPA grant
in the 1930s. He is active with the alumni associations of both Princeton
University and the Lawrenceville School, having served on committee
boards for both institutions. Through Orion, he is a member of the National
Association of Home Builders, the Pennsylvania Builder’s Association and
both the Montgomery/Bucks County HBA and the Chester/Delaware
County HBA.

Feel the comfort
of an ENERGY STAR
qualified new home.
®
The Massachusetts New Homes with ENERGY STAR Program is sponsored by
your local gas and electric utilities and energy efficiency service providers.
Call 1-877-E-STAR-MA (378-2762) or visit www.massenergystarhomes.com.
To earn the government’s ENERGY STAR, a home must meet strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. EPA
including tighter construction and energy-efficient heating and cooling equipment. ENERGY STAR qualified homes are
preferred by more homebuyers because they are quieter, more comfortable, save more energy and help protect the
environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
OK, we’ll say it.
