Monitoring temperature is essential to keeping food safe, and is
required by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). HACCP
(Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) guidelines are recommended by the FDA for food service professionals and institutions
to help detect unsafe food conditions. HACCP programs incorporate the temperature at which a product should be stored, cooked,
or cooled, as well as the length of time food products can safely
remain at these temperatures. The FoodPro Series of food safety

The simple to use Minitemp thermometer becomes even easier to operate when aiming
with the Laser Point (MT4U and MTFS), a single point laser which indicates the approximate center of the target spot.
The MTFS is a fast and effective screening tool specifically designed and calibrated to
meet food service industry accuracy requirements. The MTFS can be sued to measure
temperatures of food products such as soups and beverages; products in hot or cold
serving trays; and to assure high quality results by reaching ideal temperatures for
cooking, serving or storage.

The MX measures to 1600°F from any distance, with a target distance-to-size ratio of 60:1. Its 16-point sighting circle defines your
targert precisely. Ths display shows real-time readings and has a
bar graph that plots the last 10 temperature points, so that you
can spot fluctuations and short-term trends. The locking trigger
allows for continuous temperature measurement. Other features
include adjustable emissivity, audible/visual high alarm and
max/min readings.
The MX2 is the standard model. Just point, shoot and read. The
MX4P is the high performance model that includes audible/visual
low alarm, differential and average calculations, and on-board
emissivity table. The MX4P also lets you scroll through and

best precision. The MX4P packages together everything you

The Raytek MID is a two piece infrared temperature measurement system with miniature sensing head and separate electronics. The sensor is small enough to be installed just about anywhere yet if performs as well as much larger systems. The MID
electronics include a host of signal processing features which
you don’t normally find in systems in this price range, including
emissivity, peak hold, valley hold, and averaging function, all of
which are adjustable on the 5-digit LCD user interface.
Designed for a wide range of applications where the temperature
is in the range of -40 to 600°C (-40 to 1112°F), the sensor is
housed in a rugged stainless steel enclosure to ensure long term
performance, even in harsh industrial environments with ambient
temperatures up to 85°C (185°F) without cooling. Although the
MID is small in size, it still has the features you need, with 1%
accuracy, 10:1 optics and user selectable output signals. And the
MID’s response time is as fast or faster than many advanced
systems.
Even more features are available with the RS-232 communications and the DataTemp MultiDrop software. These features
include remote control and monitoring of sensor variables, a 5V

The Thermalert® TX™ combines high performance non-contact
temperature measurement with industry standard two-wire technology. Choose between the smart TX sensor with remotely addressable
digital control, or the basic TX.
Smart TX sensors provide digital communications, as well as 4-20

Magnesium Oxide Insulated Thermocouple
Assemblies
Pyromation offers a large variety of Magnesium Oxide insulated
thermocouple, commonly referred to as MgO thermocouples.
They are used in a variety of process and laboratory applications
as their many desirable characteristics make them a good choice
for general and special purpose use. They are available in all
thermocouple element types, numerous sheath diameters and
materials. Their ruggedness and moderately high temperature
characteristics make these thermocouples a popular choice for
a multitude of temperature measuring applications.
Temperature Sensors for the Plastics,
Rubber and Packaging Industries
Pyromation offers temperature sensors for the plastics, rubber
and packaging industries in standard and custom designs. These
temperature sensors are provided with either thermocouple
or RTD measuring elements and are typically supplied with
fiberglass leads inside 304 stainless steel sheaths. All
thermocouple and platinum RTD element assemblies are
temperature rated up to 482° C (900°F) except type T
thermocouples, which are rated up to 371° C (700° F). All
other RTD assemblies are rated up to 204° C (400° F).

Transmitters, Selector Switches and
Digital Panel Meters
Pyromation's instrumentation for temperature sensors and other
process sensing devices allows you to select and transmit
process variable signals, indicate process variable conditions,
and provide process condition alarms when desired.
General Purpose RTD's
Pyromation's general purpose RTD temperature sensor
assemblies find use in a multitude of process and HVAC
applications. Assemblies are offered with a choice of element
materials, values and accuracies, a choice of element leadwire
configurations, and a choice of sheath materials and diameters.
Many assemblies are supplied in drilled or flanged wells, and all

REFERENCE THERMOMETERS
The 5577 is an intrinsically safe, reference-grade thermometer,
that combines an ATEX IS rating with a high accuracy of
±0.05°C, over the entire range of -100 to 135°C, for the readout
and probe together.
The 5577 uses Pt100 probes and a calibration procedure that

The 5577 can be used with one or two probes and will display
both measurement channels simultaneously along with their

and time of each measurement. The 1522 also stores as many
as 25 data labels so that each set of data can be uniquely

The base unit has the display, control buttons and RS-232 port
built-in. It supplies power, communication management, and software coordination for all of the other modules. Each base unit
can handle eight thermometer modules. Each module stacks
behind the preceding one, and the Stack's software automatically
reconfigures itself to include all of the new functions supplied by
that module. Each module is calibrated individually and stores its
own parameters and calibration information independently, but all
the data is read from the base unit's display.
The SPRT Module 2560 reads 25Ω and 100Ω four-wire RTDs,
PRTs and SPRTs with an accuracy of ±0.005°C. Each module
has two input channels. SPRT modules can be used one at a
time or in any combination for reading up to 16 different reference thermometers.
The High-temp PRT Module 2561 reads 2.5Ω and 0.25Ω fourwire HTPRTs and RTDs. PRT Scanner Module 2562 reads eight
channels of two-, three-, or four-wire 100Ω PRTs or RTDs.
The Precision Thermocouple Module 2565 reads any type of
thermocouple, including type S platinum and gold-platinum thermocouples. This two-channel module has internal reference junction compensation, or you can use an external source for even
greater accuracy. All the standard ANSI thermocouple types are
preprogrammed; however, you can choose a conversion method
and then enter the probe characteristics of your sensor.
The Thermocouple Scanner Module 2566 has 12 channels and
reads K, J, T,S, R, B, E and N thermocouples. Each channel can
be set to read a different type of thermocouple. All temperature
readings are performed in exactly the same manner as with the
2565 module.

SECONDARY STANDARD PRTs
The 5626 has a temperature range of -200°C to 661°C. It makes
a great working or check standard for calibration work up to the
aluminum point. In addition, using a regular PRT at temperatures
above 500°C exposes the platinum to contamination. If the PRT
is used as a reference or calibration standard, contamination is a
major problem. The 5626 is designed to reduce the contamination risk through the use of internal protection while not impairing
performance.
Each unit includes accredited calibration that comes complete
with ITS-90 constants and a resistance-versus-temperature table,

These platinum resistance thermometers are designed to be used
as a transfer device from the highest laboratory standards to
industrial or second-tier lab locations. The element is constructed
of reference-grade platinum wire for excellent stability. The wire is
wound in a coil and placed in a mandrel where it is uniformly supported in a manner to virtually eliminate hysteresis. the electrical
configuration is a four-wire current potential hook-up to eliminate

Description
A thermistor offers several advantages over a PRT as a reference thermometer in some applications. A thermistor is much
smaller than a PRT element, and so it can be built into a much
larger variety of probe shapes and sizes. the smaller element
contributes to much faster response as well. A thermistor is less
susceptible to mechanical shock than a PRT. Higher base resistance and larger resistance coefficients make it easier to achieve
precision readings. Better resolution and accuracy are possible
for a lower cost.

TEMPERATURE LABELS
TEMPILABELS are self-adhesive temperature monitors consisting of a heat-sensitive inductor sealed under a transparent, heatresistant window. The indicator material turns from light grey to
black at the temperature rating shown. Colour change is not
reversible and provides a temperature history of the surface
being monitored. To serve as a permanent record, the labels can
be removed and attached to the service report.
Identified in both Fahrenheit and Celsius ratings. Accuracy is
guaranteed to be within 1% of temperature rating below 400°F
(204°C) and 2% at 400°F and higher. Each label is identified by a
lot number traceable to accuracy calibration records.
Series 21 Temperature Monitors are available on sheets of 21
for fast, on-the-spot application. Each label is 1/2" square with a
3/16" diameter indicating dot. Just peel them off of the release

surface, simply mark the
workpiece before
heating begins.
The dry
opaque mark
will change to

liquid smear when the

SURFACE THERMOMETERS
These Dual Magnet Mount Surface Thermometers are specifically
designed to be used on horizontal or ferrous non-horizontal surfaces. These instruments feature two alnico magnets that act as
the thermometer’s base and hold it in place on ferrous surfaces.
The bimetallic sensor is a specially processed alloy that is preconditioned and pretested for permanent calibration and maximum
stability. It is located in a draft shield and is in virtual thermal contact with the surface to be measured. This gives the instrument a
relatively quick response time. The thermometer reaches sensing
equilibrium (stability) within three minutes.
Applications:

PIPE-SURFACE THERMOMETERS
These Spring Held Pipe-Surface Thermometers are designed to
measure the surface temperatures of pipes, cylinders, spindles,
that have outside diameters of 3/4” or more. These instruments
work on a convection-radiation principle. The thermometer is
attached to the pipe by means of a high-resiliency, stainless steel
spring kit which retains its life indefinitely. The time constant (the
time required to reach 63% of an instantaneous temperature
change) is 42 seconds.
These thermometers provide a fast, reliable, and economical
method of measuring exterior curved surfaces. The insulating
and seating cup rests on the surface of the pipe and protects the
sensor from drafts or heat from other sources. The cup is made
of high-temperature Ryton polyphenylene sulfide thermoplastic.
The bimetallic sensor is ASTM Bimetal TM-2, heat-treated and
checked for permanent calibration. The design uses a small thermal mass and provides fast response and sensitivity.

PYROMETER KITS
The basic items supplied in each kit are:
1) The meter is a d'Arsonval type millivolt meter which has been
calibrated to indicate temperature rather than voltage.
Accuracy is ±2% of full scale range. A cold junction temperature adjustment screw is located immediately below the dial.
The front flange is provided for mounting the meter flush with
a panel or dashboard.
2) Six feet of 20-gauge wire is the standard length provided
in each kit. The thermocouple wire is either Iron Constantin
(IC) or Chromel Alumel (CA), depending upon the tempera
ture range required. The wire is glass insulated to withstand
high temperatures.
3) The black anodized aluminum mounting bracket is conveniently arranged with two sets of three mounting holes
for vertical or horizontal meter mounting.

POCKET CASE THERMOMETERS
These pocket case and armor thermo-meters are made with BINOC
tubing which magnifies the liquid column for improved readability
under all conditions.
Thermometers are mercury filled, for more stable readings, or red
Permacolor liquid filled for reading in poor light. Available in °F or °C,
they are calibrated for total immersion. Permark pigment ensures
that graduations and numerals will not rub off. All thermometers
measure 5-1/2" long. A snap-on pocket case with clip and built-in,

polyester, in black textured finish. Heavy glass protected front

STEM: For 3-1/2" stems only and ranges up to and including

Thermowells
Separable sockets are used to provide pressure tight connections where required. They
also offer the advantage of allowing a thermometer to be removed from a system without disturbance. The thermometer is inserted and tightened to the separable socket by
means of a threaded swivel nut coupling. Quick response to temperature changes is
assured since the stem and socket are precision tapered, providing a metal to metal
contact at the sensitive bulb section. Thread location determines the insertion length and
the length available for insulation.

All KTx recorders accept K-thermocouple probe with miniconnector plug, so each unit serves as many recorders in one. If your
workplace requires that you document temperatures for a variety
of precison applications, KTx is the one remote recorder that will
do the job.
The KTx family includes three models. Each model includes: bead
wire probe (KTx); high temperature basic probe (KTxE); AC
adapter, batteries; pen, box of 60 recording charts (0 to -100°C/°F,
7-day); and 1-Pt. NIST traceable calibration certificate.

RECORDING THERMOMETERS
Compact size (4" diameter x 3-1/4" height) and spring-wound
operation make this recorder completely portable. Because it is
spring activated, it will operate in extreme temperatures where
batteries would fail. It is designed to withstand rugged environments and rough handling, and may be used in any position.
Each clock is electrically timed and its sensor is calibrated for
accurate operation over the entire temperature range. Recorder
values are accurate to within ±2% of full scale.

A choice of temperature ranges (from -40 to +220°F) and recording periods make this dry-stylus Temperature Recorder suitable
wherever controlled-temperature monitoring is needed. The basic
components include a special chart driving clock with key, a
bimetallic heat sensing element, a stainless steel stylus, and a
pressure-sensitive paper chart. The explosion proof clock movement is spring-wound and protected against dust and moisture.
One winding is sufficient to drive the chart beyond its full recording period, whether 24 hours or 7 days.
