Over the coming ten years, the Company will
vigorously champion the cause of LED conversion of traffic

the system, greatly stabilizing our domestic business.
Railway Signal Systems
The Railway Signal Systems underpinning our Signal
Systems business traces its history back to 1921, when we
developed the nation's first electronic signaling system.
Since then, we have achieved successive results as a

New Products
Railway Signal Division
Signal System for the Tobu-Kyuryo Line (Linimo)
● High Speed Surface Transport (HSST*) system utilized on an operating railway line for the first time, providing for
environmentally friendly urban transport
The Tobu-Kyuryo railway line began operating in March 2005, employing Japan's
first HSST rail system propelled by linear motor and drawing the attention of the
world for ushering in a new era in rail transport. The magnetically levitated railway
was used for access to the Aichi World Expo, held in 2005. Kyosan provided the
total signal system for the railway line.
* An HSST railcar is propelled by a linear motor along a track over which it magnetically levitates without using any wheels.
Singapore: Punggol Light Rail Transit (LRT) (Automated People Mover Signal System)
● Delivery of fully automated transport systems for large international airports and
new towns (planned communities) through active overseas business development
Signal systems delivered by Kyosan are highly evaluated in overseas markets for
the their excellent reliability and safety. Kyosan's cutting-edge system serving
Singapore's Punggol 21 New Town commenced operation from January 2005.
Electronic Interlocking Device for Export
● Integration of elemental technology to realize a wide array of systems for many applications
Kyosan's interlocking devices, composed of failsafe electronic devices with route control and locking
functions, are delivered in large quantities to China, India and other countries. Appreciated for its
high safety and integrity, the K5B-type electronic interlocking device has been applied in South
Korea's Busan Subway Line 3, which crisscrosses the city.
Gap-Filler
● Barrier free products utilizing advanced technology for creating safe and comfortable spaces
Kyosan created gap-filler systems for Nakano-shimbashi and Nakanofujimicho Stations on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Subway Line. The systems
close the gaps between the platform and the railcar when trains are stopped
at the stations, helping to prevent incidents of falling. Installation of systems
integrating gap-fillers and half-height platform screen doors is increasing
with the growing concerns regarding public safety measures.

Slim LED Traffic Signal Units
● LED signal market surging; LED signals contribute to enhanced roadway environments
LED traffic signal units are becoming more popular in Japan. Kyosan has
developed LED traffic signals that are approximately 1/3 the thickness of
standard units (Kyosan data), and weigh approximately 20 kg, making them
thinner and lighter than conventional units. We also plan to release new
products for pedestrian crossing applications.
New U-shaped Traffic Signal Control Equipment
● Initiatives to create safe and comfortable traffic environments lead to development of new signal control algorithms
Kyosan has developed a next-generation signal control system that minimizes
lags in the provision of traffic information and achieves optimal control to match
the ever-changing flow of traffic. These systems allow for focused control from
traffic management centers, enable advance signal control based upon traffic
flow data, and feature functions for gathering and storing traffic condition data,
as well as for providing optimal signal control during traffic jams.
Power Converter Division
RF Generator
● High-performance power-source equipment is meeting the needs for larger volumes and more compact,
lightweight equipment
RF generators, the core product of the Power Converter Division, are power sources
that provide high-frequency power in the production processes for integrated
circuits and other semiconductors, LCDs, and optical discs such as CDs and DVDs.
Kyosan is expanding its product lineup in accordance with the needs of
manufacturers of LCDs and manufacturers of equipment to produce semiconductors.
