 The policy of the council of Prague takes the support for public transport as
a clear priority with emphasis on its improvement.
 The conditions by using public transport for disabled people are
continously improved.
 Some figures:
• costs related to the barrierless measures (mainly lifts) in the years 2009 –
2015 was almoust 1 bilion CZK
• estimated costs to the barrierless measures (lifts in the metro stations)
in the years 2016 – 2025 are 2,5 bilions CZK


Main objectives:
• procedure designed to building barrier-free access into existing
subway stations
• renewal of the fleet of trams and buses by using low-floor
vehicles

Measures for visually impaired people
• Guide grooves in metro stations
• Acustic beacons (in metro stations,
on crossroads)
• Distinctive touch buttons in lifts
• Control device allowing acustic reporting
about number and direction of line by entry
to trams and buses, cooperation with software
of onboard terminal implemented
in vehicles
