With the intensely competitive level of hockey seen in the Provincial Women’s Hockey League (PWHL), we have achieved just that. On September 27th 2008, Kitchener-Waterloo made history with the launch of the inaugural season of the K-W Rangers Jr. Women’s Hockey Club. Aside from this being our inaugural season plus the many on-ice successes, we are particularly proud of the twenty four graduating players over the past four years that have been offered scholarships to Canadian and American universities and colleges! Quite an accomplishment for this young hockey program. Robert Hennig K-W Rangers - President WGMHA - President and Founder The team also contributes to the community through fundraising for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the Waterloo Ravens Hockey special events and player/coach mentoring programs. We must mention our team’s sponsoring partners, without whom we could not have enjoyed the success that we have had so far - the Waterloo Girls’ Minor Hockey Association; our naming sponsor, OHL Kitchener Rangers; and M & M Meat Shops. To all other sponsors who contributed financially to the K-W Rangers, thank you very much! The K-W Rangers have a clear mandate at hand to: • Build the best women’s hockey program in the PWHL • Develop and prepare the players for their next level of play • Have an emphasis on educational development • Create community partnership and involvement • Follow the WGMHA mandate: “For the Kids, For the Game and For the Fun of it.” The K-W Rangers are utilizing the “Player First Philosophy”, developed by the OHL Kitchener Rangers, as part of our overall mandate. We are striving to create an “equal opportunity, community based” program that will allow local female hockey players an opportunity to compete at an elite level within the PWHL. Our mandate above is the foundation on which this hockey program is built. It will never be changed or compromised, now, or in the future, as it represents the very core of this unique, female hockey program. 2 K-W RANGERS 2012-13 Welcome to the 2012-2013 K-W RANGERS PWHL Junior Women’s Hockey Team Stephanie Sluys Amber Sealey Samantha Squires Goalie Defense Defense Height: 5’ 11” Shoots: Left Graduates: 2013 Birth Date: 1995 Home Town: Clinton Height: 5’ 9” Shoots: Left Graduates: 2014 Birth Date: 1996 Home Town: Fergus Height: 5’ 7” Shoots: Right Graduates: 2013 Birth Date: 1995 Home Town: Guelph Future Goals: To attend and compete for a top university in women’s hockey while earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.
