How did the “Character
Counts!” Program begin
in Radians?
• In 2003
• By way of the “American Camp
Association,” we became aware of the
“Character Counts!” Program
• We began working the “six pillars” this
same year.
2004
• A group of professors visited Chicago, where
they were trained as teachers of character
• These certified teachers trained the rest of the
personnel.
• The “Character Counts!” program was added to
the school curriculum.
• We included “Character Counts!” activities in
our calendar as well as “Character Counts!”
Week.
2004
• The school environment is saturated with the
philosophy via posters, messages, and
activities.
• We celebrated our first “Character Parade,”
impacting our local community.
• We met with parents to include them in the
philosophy of “Character Counts!”

moral,affective, social, intellectual and
physical growth to become committed
individuals in search of the meaning of God
and man.
Education’s fundamental objectives will
be to instill the basic values of man such as:
honesty, solidarity, equality, respect,
responsibility and citizenship.

To prepare students to be owners of
their own destinies and to give teaching a
human dimension capable of developing well
balanced men and women. Education should
strive for the harmonic integration of its
systematic work with the spontaneous life of
individuals and community.
Colegio Radians aspires to develop
individuals that respect their culture and
traditions, diverse religious beliefs, the fine
arts, and the moral values of the society to
which they belong.

The academic curriculum will be
enriching and flexible according to the
interest and needs of our students, giving
special emphasis to the use of english,
universal language of communication. The
curriculum has been designed to prepare
students for a demanding collage education.

Radians fosters discipline to be intrinsic so
that students may incorporate themeselves

responsible citizens who accept their rights

• Dr. Castrodad, together with a group of
certified teachers, offered workshops on
“Character Counts!” at the Puerto Rico
Association of Private Education
• We coordinated an evening of sports
achievements with the motto “Victory with
Honor”
• We hosted “Character Counts!” workshops
for students of other schools, both private
and public.

• We helped train teachers from other schools.
• Community Service Projects were
emphasized as part of the responsibility of
our students and because of the positive
impact it would have on the community.

• Values are integrated in our theatrical
presentations.
• We offered motivational workshops based on
“Character Counts!” to dropouts
• We continued with our efforts, refining the
activities that we had been realizing during
the previous two years.

• We sent a new group of teachers to San
Francisco to become certified as trainers of
“Character Counts!”
• School personnel are retrained on the
program.
• We offered workshops to new schools
interested in “Character Counts!”

• The certified teachers offered a workshop on
“Character Counts!” to the Puerto Rico
Association of Private Education
• We sent a flyer with activities for families to
realize at home that would help foster family
unity and character
• Our students shared letters about what
they’ve learned about values with other
schools in other nations

• The certified teachers participated in a radio
program where they shared the ideas of
“Character Counts!“ and the activities done
at the school
• Students heard conferences related to the
formation of character by speakers invited by
the school. Among these were Dr. José
Vargas Vidot, Dr. Edmundo Jimenez and
representatives of government agencies.

• Dra. Raquel Castrodad offered a workshop
on the development and growth of the
“Character Counts!” program at our school.
• CR students presentation to JIE Board of
Directors.
