HOW POP-UP BOUTIQUES WORK
T
he pop-up boutiques located in each corner of the lower
ballroom offer unique tastes of both art and fashion for this one
night only. If you are looking for a new piece of art by an established
or up-and-coming artist then check out the RELEVANT and YAA
boutiques where current artists and students of the Kimball Art
Center are selling the works they have created while at the Kimball.
If you are looking for a wardrobe addition, head over to the Farasha
and Porsche Design boutique for the newest designer styles handpicked by fashion specialists. Finish off your shopping with a piece of
exquisite handcrafted jewelry from O.C. Tanner where 10% of
profits will be donated to the Kimball Art Center.
The pop-up boutiques are available during the cocktail hour and
after the program concludes.
O.C. TANNER
For 85 years, O.C. Tanner Jewelers has been commemorating
stories as singular as your own. As Utah’s jeweler since 1927,
we’ve had the honor of celebrating countless milestones with
our customers, each one distinct. Our proudest distinction, though, resides not
within our company but with our customers. People with whom we have a long
shared history that stretches back half a century. And people who are just beginning
their stories with us. People like you. 10% of the profits from tonight’s sales will
benefit the Kimball Art Center.
FARASHA
Farasha is a women’s retail pop-up boutique featuring
fashion-forward, emerging designers located throughout the
U.S. and worldwide. From exclusive clothing and handbags,
to chic jewelry and accessories, Farasha offers one-of-a-kind investment pieces
and is a true representation of global style. This boutique will also showcase
Porsche Design apparel, handbags and accessories from the City Creek store in
SLC. A portion of the sales benefit the Kimball Art Center.
6
PORSCHE DESIGN
Porsche Design is a luxury brand with a particular focus on functional, timeless
and purist design. All products of the brand are designed in the Porsche Design
Studio in Zell am See, Austria, and are characterized by a pure and clean design
aesthetic. An unmistakable signature look. Quintessentially, iconic style. You can
find these luxury products alongside items from Farasha. A portion of the sales
benefit the Kimball Art Center.
YOUNG ARTIST ACADEMY (YAA)
Stop by YAA’s Academy pop-up boutique at the Gala. The
students have created unique shoes after learning about some of
their favorite artists, such as Roy Lichenstein, Sheppard Fairey
and Dr. Seuss. Shoes are available in youth, women’s and men’s
sizes. YAA is a free year-round, teen program which mentors students in middle and
high school to prepare them for college and career opportunities. Contributions to
Young Artists’ Academy ensure that this program will continue to grow and inspire
the young minds of tomorrow. 100% of the shoe proceeds will benefit YAA.

RELEVANT STUDENTS
Annie Ulrich recently graduated from Middlebury College with
a Bachelors in Studio Art and Theater (focus in costume design).
She has been involved in community public art projects both on
and off campus, including work with Marela Zacarías on her piece
Azimuth for the Willowell Foundation. Recently her work in
studio art has been preoccupied with the idea of connection and
community, and how art can be a poignant way to bring people
together in human connection. aulrich@middlebury.edu
Etsuko Kato — When Etsuko Kato decided to go back to
school at the University of Utah in 2007 to study economics she
had a chance to take a non-major photography class. It seemed
like fate, she fell in love with cameras and Black and White
photography. Etsuko started her 3rd bachelor in Fine Arts at
University of Utah in 2010 and she is still studying photography.

Rob McKirdie grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and relocated to
Portland, Oregon in 2006, where he completed a Bachelor of Fine
Arts in Art Practices and Bachelor of Science in Sculpture, cum
laude, at Portland State University. Rob is a Master of Fine Arts
in Sculpture candidate at Rhode Island School of Design.
roberto.mckirdie@gmail.com
Stephanie Clark has explored many mediums and ways of
creating art while attending the University of Utah. While taking a
class in which she could work with any medium she desired, she
discovered her love of embroidery and thread drawings. Since then,
most of Stephanie’s work consists of fiber art, mixing paint and
thread on pattern fabrics. steph.kelly.iam@gmail.com
JoAnn Poirier is currently an undergraduate student at Alfred
University pursuing a dual degree in fine arts and accounting. At a
local studio she was introduced to clay printing, a print making
technique invented by contemporary artist Mitch Lyons. Since then,
JoAnn has continued working in clay printing and expanding the
technique by utilizing modern technology. JMP8@alfred.edu

Colin Gray— Primarily working in sculpture and drawing,
