This training is for all professionals in a position to deliver brief messages
to patients, students, or clients about tobacco treatment. This includes
any health care provider, counselor, educator, public health professional,
hospital worker, or community advocate who has an opportunity to
interact with Maine residents who use tobacco, of any age.

September 16, 2009 – Shiretown Motor Inn, Houlton
PTM sponsors an annual two-day Intensive Tobacco Treatment Training and Conference in
the spring for professionals who are interested in delivering more intensive tobacco treatment.
The Intensive Training will be held at The Atlantic Oakes by the Sea Resort and Conference
Center in Bar Harbor, April 27and 28, 2010. This advanced training is required for those
applying for State certification as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist. Completion of the Tobacco
Intervention: Basic Skills Training is a requirement for attendance at the Intensive Tobacco
Treatment Training.
DATES
Upon approval, Continuing Education Credits will be available for:
Physicians, Certified Health Educators, Social Workers, Alcohol and Drug
Counselors, Dentists, Dental Hygienists, and Respiratory Therapists.
Also, this continuing nursing activity was approved by ANA-MAINE, an
accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s
Commission on Accreditation.
Maine Medical Center is accredited by the Maine Medical Association to
provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Tobacco Intervention Basic Skills Training
Basic Skills Training Online:
The Basic Skills Training is now conducted in two parts: An online
training and an in-person group training. Once you have registered and
paid, you will be directed to the link for the online training (approximate
time for completion: 11⁄2 hours).
The second part (an in-person group training) will be conducted at
several sites throughout the State over the course of the 2009/2010
training season. In-person group trainings run from 8:00 a.m. to Noon.
Breakfast and healthy snacks are provided. Dates and locations for the
