So where is Orono?
Well, we’re right here, near Bangor,
Maine.
Orono and Old Town are the two towns that border the
university on both sides. The university has good
relationships with both towns, and many of our faculty,
staff and students are residents of the area.
Campus hosts the Orono Farmer’s market twice weekly.
Between Old Town and Bangor is the Bangor City Park,
Bog and Boardwalk.
Bangor is the third largest city in Maine. Through the
Downtown Bangor Partnership, there has been a recent
increase in the businesses moving into the area.
From spring through fall Bangor hosts an outdoor farmer
and arts market weekly, accompanied by free, local music
or an old timey movie shown in the town square.
During the summer Bangor hosts the Waterfront series,
which brings in a variety of performers, from Toby Keith to
Bob Dylan, Melissa Ethridge to the Dropkick Murphys.
