Sierra produce batterie alettate impiegabili in molteplici applicazioni
civili e industriali in cui è richiesto lo scambio termico tra aria e fluidi
primari come acqua, gas frigorigeni, soluzioni incongelabili, ecc.
Sierra manufactures heat exchanger coils for numerous commercial and
industrial applications where heat transfer is required between air and
primary fluid such as water, refrigerant gas, no-freezing solution, etc.
Le batterie Sierra sono realizzate con tubi di rame, cupronichel o alluminio
e alette di alluminio o di rame. Le alette sono munite di collari e il contatto
tra questi ultimi e i tubi è ottenuto mediante l’espansione meccanica dei
tubi stessi. La perfetta aderenza in tal modo conseguita garantisce il
massimo scambio termico tra il fluido primario e l’aria. I collari delle alette
inoltre sono muniti di bordo di altezza calibrata, il quale consente di
mantenere una rigorosa spaziatura tra un’aletta e l’altra.
Sierra coils are produced with copper, copper-nichel and aluminum tubes
and aluminum or copper fins.
Tutte le batterie sono sottoposte a una prova di tenuta realizzata mediante
test con insufflaggio di aria secca in pressione e immersione in acqua
o tramite test con gas tracciante elio in camera in vuoto; esse inoltre
possono essere accuratamente pulite internamente ed esternamente
mediante lavaggio con solvente in fase liquida e in fase di vapore.

Fins are provided with collars; the contact between the tubes and the
collars is obtained by mechanical expansion of the pipes. Mechanical
expansion of the tubes provides a tight bond between the fins and the
tube ensuring a high heat transfer between the primary fluid and the air.
Fins have a gauge collar that provides an exact spacing between
themselves.
All coils are leak checked in order to verify leakage presence. Besides the
traditional system, where the heat exchanger is leak checked by a water
tank and subjected to an internal pressure with dry air, Sierra is able to test
the coils with an innovative gas tracing helium in vacuum chamber.
All the heat exchangers are carefully cleaned and degreased with a solvent
in liquid and in vapour phase.
Sierra fertigt Lamellenwärmetauscher für vielfältige Anwendungen in
Bau- und Industriebereiche; Überall dort, wo ein Wärmeübergang von
Heiz- oder Kühlmitteln wie Wasser, Dampf, Kältemittel, Sole usw., zur
Luft notwendig ist.
Die Wärmetauscher bestehen aus Kupfer- Kupfernickel- oder
Aluminiumkernrohren mit Aluminium- oder Kupferlamellen. Die Lamellen
erstrecken sich durchgehend über den ganzen Querschnitt des
Wärmetauschers. Die mechanische Festigkeit der Lamellen wird durch
besondere Formgebung erhöht und ist mit Kragen versehen. Durch einen
speziellen Aufweitvorgang wird eine mechanische feste Verbindung
zwischen Kernrohren und Lamellen erreicht. Diese Verbindung
gewährleistet den Wärmeübergang von Kühl- oder Heizmittel zur Luft.
Die Kragen werden als Distanzringe ausgebildet, so dass ein genauer
Abstand der Lamellen voneinander garantiert wird. Nach der Lotung
führt man die Dichtigkeitsprüfung aus, um eventuelle Undichtigkeiten zu
finden.
Außer dem traditionellen Prüfsystem durch Tauch des Wärmetauschers im
Wasser und innere Drücktest mit trockener Luft, ist Sierra mit einem neuen
Heliumprüfsystem ausgerüstet. Diese Prüfung erlaubt einen hohen
Genauigkeitsgrad und die Möglichkeit, sehr kleine Undichtigkeiten zu
finden. Weiter wird jeder Wärmetauscher in einem Flüssig- und Dampfbad
von Lösungsmittel ausgewaschen.
La société Sierra produit des batteries à ailettes qui peuvent être
employées dans plusieurs applications civiles et industrielles dans
lesquelles il est demandé un échange thermique entre l’air et les fluides
primaires comme l’eau, les fluides frigorigènes, les solutions
incongelables, etc.
Les batteries Sierra sont réalisées à partir de tubes en cuivre, cuivre-nickel
ou aluminium et d’ailettes en aluminium ou en cuivre. Les ailettes sont
pourvues de collerettes et le contact entre celles-ci et les tubes est obtenu
par expansion mécanique de ces derniers. La parfaite adhérence obtenue
par un tel procédé, garantit l’échange maximum entre le fluide primaire
et l’air. Les collerettes des ailettes, en outre, sont munies d’un rebord
d’épaisseur calibré, lequel permet de maintenir un écartement rigoureux
entre chaque ailette.
Après la soudure on procède au test d’étanchéité par soufflage d’air sec en
pression et immersion dans l’eau, ou par des tests à gaz traçant hélium en
chambre à vide; Toutes les batteries peuvent être en outre soigneusement
nettoyées par lavage avec solvant en phase liquide et en vapeur.

Le batterie Sierra sono costruite con tubi di rame aventi i seguenti diametri
esterni: 5 mm, 7 mm, 7.94 mm (5/16”), 9.52 mm (3/8”) e 12.7 mm (1/2”).
Oppure con tubi in cupronichel aventi diametro 9.52 mm, alluminio aventi
diametro 7.94 mm e 9.52 mm. Sono disponibili le seguenti geometrie:
20x17.32 mm, 21x12.7 mm, 25x12.5 mm, 25x19 mm, 25x21.65 mm, 25x25
mm e 31.75x27.5 mm.
Sierra coils are manufactured with the following external copper tube
diameters: 5 mm, 7 mm, 7.94 mm (5/16”), 9.52 mm (3/8”), 12.7 mm (1/2”).
Sierra produces also coils made of copper-nichel tubes with 9.52 mm
diameter and aluminum tubes 7.94 mm and 9.52 mm diameters.

Per quanto riguarda le alette, esse possono essere piane, corrugate o
turbolenziate. Le combinazioni attualmente realizzabili da Sierra tra i
diversi diametri, geometrie e tipi di alette sono riportate di seguito.
I diversi elementi che costituiscono le batterie sono realizzati nei seguenti
materiali:
- Tubi: in rame, cupronichel o alluminio;
- Alette: in alluminio o in rame;
- Telaio: in lamiera di acciaio zincato, alluminio, peraluman, rame,
ottone o acciaio inossidabile;
- Collettori: in acciaio, alluminio o rame con attacchi aventi qualsiasi
filettatura;
- Distributori: in ottone con tubi capillari in rame o interamente
in alluminio.
The fins can be flat, corrugated or louvered. The combinations of different
diameters, geometries and the fin types that Sierra can manufacture are
shown on the following pages. The different elements that make up the
coils are manufactured with the following materials:
- Tubes: in copper, copper-nichel or aluminum;
- Fins: in aluminum or copper;
- Frame: in galvanized steel, in aluminum, in aluminum alloys, in copper,
in brass or stainless steel.
- Headers: in steel, aluminum or copper with every gas thread
connections;
- Distributors: in brass with copper capillary tubes or completely
in aluminum.
Die Lamellen können mit glatter, gewellter oder Louvre Oberfläche sein.
Die bestandsteile für beiden Typen sind aus folgendem Material:
- Kernrohre: Kupfer, Kupfernickel oder Aluminium;
- Lamellen: Aluminium oder Kupfer;
- Rahmen: verzinktes Stahlblech, Aluminium, Aluminiumlegierungen,
Kupfer Messing, rostfrei Stahl;
- Sammler: Stahl, Aluminium oder Kupfer mit jener
Gewindeanschlüssen;
- Verteiler: Messing mit Kupferkapillarrohren oder Aluminium.
Les ailettes peuvent être à surface plane, gaufrée ou persienne.
Les combinaisons actuellement construites par Sierra entre les différents
diamètres, géométries et types d’ailettes sont indiquées ci-dessous.
Les différents éléments qui constituent les batteries sont construits avec
les matériaux suivants:
- Tubes: cuivre, cuivre-nickel ou aluminium;
- ailettes: aluminium ou cuivre;
- Châssis: tôle d’acier galvanisé, aluminium, alliages d’aluminium,
cuivre, laiton, acier inox;
- Collecteurs: en acier, aluminium ou cuivre avec des embouts ayant
n’importe quelle type de filetage;
- Distributeurs: laiton avec tubes capillaires en cuivre ou entièrement
en aluminium.
Le batterie possono essere fornite con il pacco alettato:
- Piano;
- Piegato a L o ad U;
- Rotondo;
- Rettangolare.
Nel caso delle batterie con pacco alettato piano, le dimensioni massime
del pacco sono riportate nelle tabelle relative alle varie geometrie
e diametro dei tubi. Nel caso delle batterie con pacco ad L o a U le
dimensioni massime sono: HxL = 1500x2300 mm, 3 ranghi sovrapposti.
Nel caso infine di batterie con pacco circolare, occorre osservare i seguenti
limiti:
- Raggio interno min.: 125 mm;
- Raggio interno max.: 500 mm;
- Ranghi max.: 3;
- Tratto rettilineo min.: 55 mm.

The coils can be supplied with the following finned block:
- Flat;
- L or U bended;
- Round;
- Rectangular.
In case of coils with flat finned block, the maximum dimensions are shown
on the schedules concerning the wide geometries and the tube diameters.
In case of coils with L or U bended finned block, the maximum dimensions
of it are the following: HxL=1500x2300 mm, 3 superposed rows.
In case of coils with round finned block, the following limits should be
observed:
- Min. inside radius: 125 mm;
- Max. inside radius: 500 mm;
- Max. rows: 3;
- Min rectilinear portion: 55 mm.
Die Wärmetauscher können mit folgendem Lamellenpaket geliefert
werden:
- Fach;
- U- oder L- förmig;
- Rund;
- Rechteckig.
Bei Wärmetauschern mit flachen Paket, sind die maximalen Abmessungen
in den Tabellen der jeweiligen Rohrteilungen und Rohrdurchmessern
angegeben. Bei Wärmetauschern mit U- oder L-förmigem Lamellenpaket
sind die maximalen Abmessungen: HxL=1500x2300 mm, 3 Rohrreihen
übereinander. Bei Wärmetauschern mit rundem Lamellenpaket müssen
folgende Grenzen beachtet werden:
- int. Radien min.: 125 mm;
- int. Radien max.: 500 mm;
- Rohrreihen max.: 3;
- Min. gerade Teil: 55 mm.
Les batteries peuvent être fournies avec le bloc à ailettes:
- Plat;
- Plié à L ou à U;
- Circulaire;
- Rectangulaire.
En cas de batteries avec bloc plat, les dimensions maximums de celui-ci
sont indiquées dans les tables concernant les différentes géométries et
diamètre des tubes. En cas de batteries avec bloc à L ou à U les dimensions
maximums sont HxL=1500x2300 mm, 3 nappes superposés. En fin, en cas
de batteries avec bloc circulaire, il faut observer les limites suivantes:
- Rayon intérieur min.: 125 mm;
- Rayon intérieur max: 500 mm;
- Nappes max: 3;
- Min. partie rectiligne: 55 mm.

Il collaudo finale verifica la tenuta dello scambiatore prima del suo
impiego presso il cliente.
Le pressioni di collaudo sono scelte in funzione delle pressioni di esercizio
delle batterie o della richiesta del cliente.
Sierra collauda le batterie ad acqua alla pressione di 8 bar, quelle per i
fluidi frigorigeni alla pressione di 30 bar o 45 bar in funzione del tipo di
fluido, mentre quelle a vapore o acqua surriscaldata sono collaudate alla
pressione di 15 bar oppure alla pressione richiesta dal cliente.

Il collaudo è eseguito mediante insufflaggio di aria secca e immersione
in acqua o mediante test tramite gas tracciante elio in camera in vuoto.
Su richiesta del cliente Sierra può fornire un certificato di collaudo.
Le batterie Sierra di riscaldamento devono rispettare i seguenti limiti
d’impiego:
- acqua calda: 100°C e 8 bar;
- acqua surriscaldata: 170°C e 12 bar;
- vapore: 200°C e 15 bar.
The final test checks the coil for leaks before it will be used by the
customer. Test pressures are selectioned in function of coil working
pressures, or according to customer’s request.
Sierra tests water coils at 8 bar pressure, those for refrigerant fluids are
tested at 30 bar pressure or 45 bar pressure depending on the refrigerant
fluid , while steam or overheated water coils are tested at 15 bar pressure
or by customer pressure request.
Testing is made through pressurized dry air, keeping the coils under water
or by gas tracing helium in a vacuum chamber.
Sierra can supply the customer with a test certificate on request.
Sierra coils respect the following limits of use:
- hot water: 100°C and 8 bar;
- overheated water:170°C and 12 bar;
- steam: 200°C and 15 bar
Die Dichtigkeitsprüfung der Wärmetauscher wird am Ende der Fertigung
ausgeführt. Die Prüfungsdrücke sind von den Betriebsdrücken der
Wärmetauscher oder von den Kundenanfragen abhängig.
Sierra Wasserwärmetauscher werden mit 8 bar Druck geprüft.
Die Kältemittelwärmetauscher werden mit 30 bar oder 45 bar Druck, die
Dampf- und überhitzten Wasserwärmetauscher mit 15 bar Druck geprüft.
Die Prüfung wird durch Aufblasen von trockener Luft und tauchen ins
Wasser ausgeführt. Alternativ in der Heliumkammer.
Auf Kundenanfrage wird von Sierra eine Prüfbescheinigung ausgestellt.
Sierra Heizwärmetauscher müssen folgende Einsatzgrenzen beachten:
- Warmwasser: 100°C und 8 bar;
- Heißwasser: 170°C und 12 bar;
- Dampf: 200°C und 15 bar
Le test final vérifie la tenue de la batterie avant son emploi chez le client.
Les pressions de test sont prises en fonction des pressions de travail des
batteries ou de la demande du client.
Sierra essaye les batteries d’eau à la pression de 8 bar, celles pour fluides
frigorigènes sont essayées à la pression de 30 bar ou 45 bar en fonction du
type de fluide, tandis que celles à vapeurs d’eau ou eau surchauffée sont
essayées à la pression de 15 bar ou bien sur la base des demandes
du client.
Le test est fait par soufflage d’air sec et immersion en eau ou par des tests
avec gaz traçant hélium en chambre à vide . Sur demande du client Sierra
peut fournir un certificat d’essai. Les batteries Sierra de chauffage doivent
respecter les limites d’emploi suivantes:
- eau chaude: 100°C et 8 bar;
- eau surchauffée .: 170°C et 12 bar;
- vapeur: 200°C et 15 bar.

Nel caso in cui la batteria sia utilizzata in applicazioni particolari o debba
funzionare in ambienti aggressivi, Sierra, su richiesta, è in grado di
proporre soluzioni che prevedono l’impiego di materiali speciali o il ricorso
a trattamenti superficiali anticorrosione.
In case the coil is used in particular applications or it has to work

Rivestimento idrofilico: questo trattamento può essere utilizzato nelle
batterie per evaporazione e per raffreddamento allo scopo di ottenere
una condensazione a film del vapore acqueo sulle pareti delle alette.
Con tale trattamento, queste ultime sono rese idrofiliche e quindi
“bagnabili” evitando così la formazione delle gocce d’acqua.
Il trattamento idrofilico offre i seguenti vantaggi:
- Evita la riduzione della sezione di passaggio dell’aria ed evita quindi un
aumento delle perdite di carico;
- Consente passi delle alette ridotti altrimenti sconsigliabili, per ovvi
motivi, in presenza di gocce d’acqua;
- Permette velocità più alte dell’aria senza il rischio di trascinamento
delle gocce.
I vantaggi di cui sopra sono ancora più accentuati nei casi di batterie con
alette turbolenziate.

Hydrophilic coating: this treatment can be used in the evaporating and
cooling coils in order to obtain a film condensation of the water on the
fin surface. With this treatment, the fins become hydrophilic and then
“wettable”, avoiding the buil-ding up of droplets.
The hydrophilic treatment offers the following advantages:
- It avoids the reduction of the flow section of the air and therefore
an increase of air pressure drop;
- It allows shorter fin pitches, which would otherwise not be possible,
for obvious reasons, in presence of water droplets;
- It allows increased air flows without the risk that the droplets are
dragged.
The above mentioned advantages are much more accentuated in case
of coils with louver fins.
Hydrophilische Behandlung: Diese Behandlung kann an Verdampfern
und Kühlen durchgeführt werden, um auf den Aluminiumlamellen eine
Filmverdichtung des Wasserdampfes zu erreichen.
Durch diese Behandlung werden die Lamellenwände hydrophilisch und
die Bildung von Wassertropfen wird vermieden.
Traitement hydrophile: ce traitement, étudié et mis au point par Sierra,
peut être utilisé sur les batteries d’évaporation et de refroidissement pour
obtenir une condensation à film de vapeur d’eau sur la surface des ailettes.
Avec ce traitement, ces derniers sont rendues hydrophiles et donc
mouillantes, en évitant ainsi la formation des gouttes.
