The “News”
A NEW YEAR!
Well...We’ve come to another year’s end.
A chance to start anew. From all of us
here on the staff we remind you: This is
YOUR club. We want to hear from you.
Want you like, what you don't like , what
you would be interested in seeing more or
less of. Where you’d like to go. This club
is run by our members.
Scott Wood will be working on a list of
people who have skills or equipment that
can be used that will be published in upcoming section called “Help Wanted”.
There will be a list of people who have
something to offer in the way of expertise
or specialty equipment that they wouldn't
mind either loaning or letting you come to
them and using or just access to: they’ll
use it to help you.
And remember; as club members you can
use our combined buying leverage to great
discounts on auto parts and such from several sources. The more we buy, the deeper
the discount; so everyone please use it.

Hi Yall
Our first club meeting for January will be held 8:30 AM Saturday 1/11/2014 at
the golden Corral in Grapevine. ( 2605 E Grapevine Mills Cir, Grapevine, TX
76051) (972) 874-7900. For the rest of 2014 we will be rotating to different locations so that everyone will have a chance to drive to a closer location. I welcome
recommendations and absent any recommendations I will arbitrarily select a
meeting location. After our January meeting we will make a short trip to downtown Dallas to visit The Trinity Groves District. We will visit some shops, a micro brewery, and end up at lunch at the Gas Monkey Restaurant.
I have not had much progress on the Christmas party. I located a venue in Irving
that will allow us to bring our own food for a 5 hour stay for $2,100. I don't think
that is a workable idea. The only other suggestion I have received is for the old
Allen Fire House. If you want this to happen then you need to find a place for us
to have the party.
I have been driving my 87 now for a month and I can say with certainty the the
ramjet 350, although a very nice engine, is not enough power for my wants. The
low end torque is much improved over the stock 350. Unfortunately, it lacks
good snap throttle response and highway passing is no better than the stock 350.
When I push down on the go peddle I want instant gratification. May be 450BHP
will do it for me. I've only got a couple of hundred miles on the engine so far and
know that there is a break in program for the first 500 miles in the ECU. I am not
sure how the ECU knows when 500 miles occurs. Also, I am not satisfied with
the operation of my rebuilt 700R4 transmission. It doesn't down shift for highway passing, shifts into OD around 55 mph, has soft 2-3 shifts, and I don't think
the converter is locking up, It takes a while to start when cold and is only getting
11 MPG. On the coldest days I give my 67 3 gas pumps and it starts right away
and is getting 14 MPG. I will have my 87 at the next meeting and I'll keep you
informed on my progress.

introduce you to our members rides– the reason
most of us were drawn to the club in the first
place. Each month I’ll try to feature one or more
members rides. If you want to be featured just let
me know! It doesn't matter if your truck is done,
running, or stacked in pieces in the garage-
hours later a Gem is starting to emerge. Lazarus
is being resurrected. I am lucky enough to have
been asked to help with the assembly thanks to
the kind referral from a couple of guys in the
truck club I am a part of here in North Texas:

for the butcher to come to the back door at the

This month I’m featuring a pretty little 64 C10.
This is Dan Herod's of Mustang Sally Productions. Dubbed "Lazarus" due to its first life being
snubbed nearly out by the first shop that got
there hands on it. The short story: The truck was
intentionally damaged almost beyond repair being "drug" in pieces; pummeled strategically
where the damage would be the hardest to correct an left scattered. It took legal action to get
the truck back and was for all intents and purposes a "dead" project. The truck has special meaning though, so we started over. Thousands of

There is some really good engine building stuff in here. There is also a section called “Ask Dr. Dipstick”
where you can e-mail your specific question in.

Want to know what your cam really does inside the engine? Check out the timing tutorial, one of just about
a billion other cool things on Comp’s site. If you have a question about a cam component, you can probably
find the answer here, or you can call there cam help line @ (800) 999 0853.
4. Crane Cams—Camshaft Installation Instructions—www.cranecams.com
Just bought that new cam at the swap meet, but the guy didnt have the instructions for it? Check out Crane’s
installation instruction section or their tech help area for all the valve train info you’ll need. There’s also
wiring help for any Crane Electronics component. Tech help for the computer-phobic crowd can be found at

Wiring a car can make you relly mad. I dont think thats where they got their name from, but M.A.D.
Enterprises web site sure can keep you sane when you have spaghetti on the brain. These guy’s really know

I foun this page kind of by accident, but its bookmarked as one of my favorites.They have done their
homework and offers all kinds of great info. There’s also lots of Chevrolet casting number ID’s for those of
you wondering what parts you’ve already got.
7. MSD Ignition—Ignition Troubleshooting—www.msdignition.com
Any time something goes wrong with an engine, the part most often blamed, but least likely to be the cause
is th ignition box. It’s probalby because that box holds some sort of mystical spell over it’s owner. MSD
offers troubleshooting tips to get past this urban legend and proove once and for all that the box is not
always to blame. Of course, they’ve also got guys on the phone that’ll tell you the same thing at (915) 857
5200.

The guys at Richmond Gear know that choosing the right ring and pinion can be a tough debate. And
installing it can be even more intimidating, but not now, with theier helpful e.t. calculator that’ll tell you
how fast you can go with new gears, and a R&Pinstallation section, you’ll never fear that swap again! If you
